While fixing the lighter socket for the GTech to work...
I couldn't figure out why the socket wasn't working so I thought: "Maybe the GTech plug isn't long enough to reach the contact at the bottom". So I look down in the scoket, and what do I find; a screw, that was shorting out the receptacle! So, I remove the screw, replace the fuse, and the GTech was working, but thats not all. A few months ago my radio stopped working as far as the memory was concearned. I figured the live wire for the stareo that is always hot, had a bad fuse and considering what a pain in the bum it is to get the console off, I figured I could live with having to always manually tune the radio. My interior lights also were no longer working, but figured; hey the cars 27 years old. Well, when I corrected the short, and changed the fuse, everything worked

Mine isn't working so I haven't been able to test my 'vette with the G-Tech. I think I'm going to add another lighter socket that I can hide up under the dash. It would probably be easier to wire in another one than try and figure out why the console lighter isn't working.

I'll ask the question: Have you checked the fuse? I know its a basic thing to do, but it never hurts to ask. Also, have you checked to make sure that the positive terminal is conected to the lighter socket. Again, I realize you probably have already done this, but it dosn't hurt to ask. :blueangel:

I wired in a cigarette-lighter type socket that I bought at Radio Shack. I removed the old tray and lighter. The new thing can fit behind the sliding door. MJ

I know this sounds like a "Bubbafacation" but a simple and easy idea for extra plug ins, and sockets is to go to a truck stop. or Radio shack. They have three socket plug ins that have a fused male on one end and three females on the other. You can cut the male plug off and direct wire it into your battery box, and run the wire under the center . They stick on with two sided tape, or leave it loose. You can do the same thing with a 12V extension cord type plug in.
I know real "bubba" but they work great and you can run 3 things at once with no worries. If you are concerned about fusing when you cut the plug off, run an in-line fuse.
