Just got my q jet back from Lars. what a difference!
I would definitly consider a rebuild by Lars as an alternative to buying a new carb. I just installed mine and I can only say it never ran this well. Good response, steady idle, starts up right away after sitting all night, rich smelling exhaust eliminated. Thanks Lars. great job.

I have heard from many people that a Q-Jet that is setup right really is a great all around carb. I have a guy who has a lot of Q-Jet carbs and he said they can put one together for me. Sounds like I should just buy it and send it to Lars and have him work his magic. I would love to have my Holley work great in both town driving and wide open, is that expecting too much?

$100
Especially considering how good of work he does.
Hell I'd have offered him at least twice that... maybe more.

:iagree: It is a heck of a deal. Here's what Lars said about tuning carbs for forum members:
"Cost for the carbs is $100 plus return shipping, and this includes a complete teardown, hot tank, detail, precision blueprint assembly, a good quality carb kit, a new NitroFill float, a new filter, and test-running the carb on one of my engines to assure performance. I do not have capability to do the replating process like some of the commercial rebuilders, but then I don't charge $300, either... and my carbs run good. If the carb needs other parts, such as a choke pulloff, linkage pieces, choke assembly, etc., I charge my cost on these items in addition to the base fee. The carbs are supplied to you with a data sheet and installation instructions."
BTW, I don't get kickbacks or anything, I'm just very, very pleased with my carb right now!
Oh, and Stoge, be real careful taking that carb off! If you drop it, we won't let you touch carbs anymore, either.:lolg:
