Default 79 steering wheel

Just purchased new steering wheel. How difficult is it to replace? do I need some kind of puller?

not hard at all, I've had mine on my 79 off several times. You will probably need a puller, but if all you got was the actual wheel, it will bolt to the hub, and you don't need a puller

agreed. quite easy, takes less than 10 minutes. it was the first thing i did when i bought my 'Vette - I replaced the worn steering wheel with a clean one. you just need a basic tool or two (screw driver and wrench i believe)...

No wrench, just a good #2 phillips head screwdriver.

The wheel is easy, however it's the horn cap that stumps people. It literally just clips to the hub but over the years a little surface rust can build up making the two very solid together. I generally use a thick rag and a wide flat head screw driver to pop off the stubborn ones. Before re-installation just clean all the teeth of the clip up with a wire wheel or a metal brush and they snap back together perfectly.
