Re: Can't get the window crank handles off!!! (Redshark6974)
I think Corvette Central or some of the many other Corvette parts distributors makes a special tool for the window cranks. I assume this is the tool you are using? If so, I cant help you, sorry. Good luck.
Re: Can't get the window crank handles off!!! (THawkbh)
You can get that tool at almost any parts store. I made a not so perfect copy out of sheet metal from one I borrowed from someone. I found sometimes works better if you take the tool and turn it 360 degrees around the shaft several times.
Re: Can't get the window crank handles off!!! (LAvetteman)
wow, i give you a lot of credit. I have about 4 pairs of the "help" window cranks kickin around, if I have to pull the door panels off I just break the crank :hat :leaving:
Re: Can't get the window crank handles off!!! (Redshark6974)
I use a wire coat hanger to get them off. I cut about a 6" length and then at one end bend about a 1/2" of wire at 90 degrees. get the tool in place and yank the clip out.
Re: Can't get the window crank handles off!!! (72CoupeORG(smc))
The clips are "Omega" clips, shaped like the Greek letter Omega. They slip over slots in the crank, and over the shaft. They'll only come out one way.
If you're having trouble, use a hemostat, or a small needle nose plier. Push the door panel in...rotate the crank and look for the clip. Use the needle nose of hemostat to pull it out. Chuck

Me too!
I've removed the crank handles both ways - with a small hook by pushing the panel in and "snagging" the top of the omega loop and also with the custom tool - which was far easier!
