Re: Convertible top replacement questions. . . . (hudman)
Al Knoch has the correct tops with the dielectrical seals and right vinyl material...best to have all the weatherstripping, no way out of that one....to have a pro do it, expect to pay $500-1000..well around here anyways. i have a custom made Canvas (same heavy material used on C5 verts) on mine..wasn't cheap..my dad did the installation and its just as good if not better than a professional.
Re: Convertible top replacement questions. . . . (GrandSportC3)
I didn't replace anything.. My weatherstrip was still usable...
I did the install myself.. Takes around 3 - 4 hours...
Well - the first time that I ever did a convertible top - it took my over 6 hours... but now - I can almost get it done in 3 hours..
After pulling off the old rotted weatherstripping off the rear bow that meets the decklid, there was no way I could use it again. Plus, after fighting to push down the cord and the weather stripping on that same bow, I just thought new weatherstripping would just be a tighter fit.

WOHA THATS COOL I may be replacing my top, and I never thought about using Canvas. THat would be awesome, no more creases for me. About how much did that run ya $$?

the top alone is about $1000 with everything, its custom canvas, with a special made smaller back window (if you notice, the stock tops have a really wide and tall window)...pads, straps, weatherstripping...not including installation.
