Hi, just recently purchased my dream car, my first Vette, 1978. Love car, but really new to this. Radio fading in and out, anybody have any idea what this could be? Do i need a new radio? it has cassette player also. dont know if original. also looking for pace car spoiler, possibly used and out of eurathane. Reasonable. also, do not know how to get wheels off, it has spinners. May be a stupid question, but could use help. also need spare tire holder, and spare. My car has a new frame. Could use any, and all help. email me, and i can send pictures. Thanks, and really excited. Just retired, and bought this as my present. thanks, JIM :auto: :flag :chevy
Congrats and welcome to the forum. I recently saw a pace car spoiler in the C3 parts for sale section. If not there check ebay. Normally spinners are held on by small allen head set screws, take the spinners off first to get to lugs.
Radio fading could be antenna connection loose or broken. HTH

Re: My 1978 Vette (guppie)
Sounds like a nice retirement present. I have a long way to go yet on retirement, but I check on my accounts about once a week. A fellow can dream can't he.
Does the spinner attach to factory rally wheels or aluminum wheels?, usually the spinner just spins off which then allows you to remove the cone beneath it, this gives you access to the lug nuts.
Radio could be any number of things, but usually radios work or dont work..I would check to see if your antennae is plugged in or look to see if the cable got cut somewhere.
Pace car spoilers are available all over...E-bay...the forum parts section....every vendor in the market has one.
Same more or less hoilds true for the spare tire bin.
Now, we need you to post pictures of your ride cause we are all interested..find some place in the web where you can host your images, even the forum offers web space...then you can link those images to the forum and we can all see your car.
Welcome to the Forum. Like you, I'm a new member also and just recently retired and have a '78. If your radio has a "casette", it may not be original as my owners manual shows the only available tape player as being an "8 track tape" unit. Anyone still remember those things? Just threw away a grocery bag full of tapes not long ago. When I got my car, it did not have the original radio (wish it did) and as someone has already mentioned, the weak signal may be the antenna cable. I replaced mine.
Welcome to the forum. Just a shame we don't live closer. i have a pace car spoiler that I pulled off my 78 . Still here in the garage collecting dust. Probably cost more to ship it there than buying one locally.
After having the car with & without spoiler I prefer the look without.
As mentioned above the radio antenna cable my be disconnected or lose. If it has a standard tape player then i believe it is not original as the original is a 8 track player.
Welcome to both of you. Like everyone has said.... we love pics. I know MGB can post them from Roadrunner as I blast their servers whenever I can from my home page. This is a great forum and someone can probably help you if you need it. And this group will gladly help you spend your money just as a warning.
I agree...all '78s I've seen have come with 8 track only...
I'm going to put a new unit in the glove compartment, yet keep the stock upfront to keep it original looking.
So if any of you have 8 tracks you're going to throw away...lemme have'em!, I'll pay shipping!
Hmm...Mine has a radio with a CB selector and some other "thing" ( none of which seem to pick anything up) and the old speakers make the CD changer sound reeeeeeaal nice
