I used the stick on numbers from Trim Parts to avoid having to drill!

belatedly reviving this - as I did commit to provide pictures of my finished outcome (very belatedly - my body chap took forever on his previous jobs; then even longer on mine!)

how does this compare to the OEM correct?

that line labeled 25 needs to be found. i think it is some kind of front-rear reference line.

I have been reading the above thread and others. My hood is an original that had the factory holes punched in before the assembly line so that there was no need to put them in the AIM as they were already done. Unfortunately my hood had had the holes filled in numerous times and various holes for other Emblem's installed and filled. So they were useless. The last person delt with this delema by cutting of the Prongs on the Emblems and glueing them on.

I started measuring with calipers and was going to make a template on my milling machine. But there are very few prongs that are in line with each other and not all the Prongs are straight. So I ended up using a file cleaning up the broken off prongs on the old emblems and center punching them before drilling a 5/64 hole.

Then I just used the old Emblems for the pattern to drill the holes for the new ones. 5/64 was the pilot hole size then I just went on larger bit at a time not to break out the fiberglass. I generally prefer to use a Dremel Bit to cut holes but this hood is not finished painted.

So this still leaves the problem of where to locate the holes. By using the Wilcox article on where 454 emblems go on a BB ( not L88 ) hood I went with there measurement of 4.5. Inch's for the length of the holes from one end to the other. In the above thread I see somebody thought 7/8" down from the lip but I thought 3/4 inch looked more like the original L88 pictures. So the Tape line is how far down I went. As far for and aft I just winged it.
