Update on Transmission problem with 4th gear.
It looks like I need a rebuild. The problem is inside the transmission, and not with the linkage. So no I am pricing rebuilds. How hard is it to rebuild a Muncie by myself? I have never done any trans work so it would be a new experience. Any ideas on the cost of rebuilding a M20? If it is going to cost to much I might just do a 5 speed conversion, since I always wanted OD.

Since without knowing the prices of Muncie parts these daze, some years ago there weren't any prices as they were flat NLA.....
but assuming you find someone, parts, the price would be close to 4-600 bux or so time you mess around.....
so deduct that from your best o/drive price and consider your time and effort be the same in either case,....and make your decision....

I rebuilt my Muncie M-20 last year for about $300. That was for the kit and new sliders. Munices aren't hard to do,haivng a press would be nice. Go to http://www.5speeds.com and check their site. They sell an excellant Muncie rebuilding video that will walk you through the whole job. You can do this yourself.

Thanks for all the info! I am really short on time right now to work on the car. I called around at some places that have done my trans work before, and can get it done for about 800. So right now I am leaning towards that.

Thanks, but I need to check with my dad since he is handling this and see if who he wants to do it can get the parts. I am out of town right now, and just want to get it done. So I can have the car back.
