It`s not a production 69 engine with those rating numbers. A block ID number would help in your identification search.

Well inside right behind the shifter there is a little metal square that says it has 370 and 380. I did not know of any engine like that so I came here and decided to throw it out. I went out and look at the engine and it is in blue paint. I thought chevys came in orange. Well it had 25GM written big on the blcok and the number I found on it was 3970010. Hope you guys can help.

370hp would be for a 1970 LT-1. 3970010 is a common 350ci small block used in most small block corvettes from 1969 until 1980. Chevy blocks were painted orange until 76 or 77 and then they were painted blue. Look for a number on the passenger side in the same spot thet you got the 3970010. It should be a letter followed by three numbers and gives the blocks casting date. Also look for a pad in front of the passenger side valve cover. It should have two stampings. The first should be something like V0105CGZ and will tell the the engine build date and usage (hp). The other number would match the VIN the car was orginally in. Post these numbers and someone can probably look then up for you.

In 69 the small block 350 was rated at 300 HP or 350 HP. Both used cast iron intakes and Q Jet carbs. The difference was in the internals of the engine.

I couldnt find the numbers in front of the valve covers on the heads or block. But the vin is 19A3795719894. If that would help. I dont think this is the original engine but I do not know. Thanks for all the help so far.

You can't tell what engine or options came on a 69 by the VIN. Take a look over the engine and see what numbers you can find. These may give a clue as to what kind of engine it is. Also, look at the carb for numbers and build date. Remove the oil fill cap and you should be able to read the numbers on the head. Some real good references are the Corvette Black Book by Mike Antonick and Chevrolet by the Numbers by Alan Colvin.
