Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (Robert N)
Robert,
You took the words from my mouth! And I believe that I am qualified to make a comment here based on my past and current ownership.
The fact that I post here shows a bit of historical affection for this group. The people are generally civil and very knowledgeable in areas relating to engine/drive train performance and mods. Overall expertise on originality and stock configurations is generally weak, however. It has been that way for some time but certainly I was well advised during the years that I struggled to keep my 1979 in stock condition. And with all smog equipment intact just as an example. And never derided for those efforts. But the C3 Forum does have a performance culture and that permeates most threads and posts. And that is fine as the populace defines its needs and wants.
Moving over to the C2 area last June was a form of mild cultural shock. Personalities and interests are different. There is a greater emphasis on stock bodies and engines: an original look. One could say that means NCRS but I have not found that to be so. Persons such as myself who deviate somewhat from the beaten path (eg AR TT wheels, chambered exhaust) are not jumped on. I feel comfortable there. There is a more profound sense of history in C2 and I would surmise this reflects an older median age for the members. Those fellows/gals sure do know their Corvette history. And overall they display a sense of maturity and understanding of newbees like me. The fellow who jumped on Norval is an aberration in my view.
Snobbishness? Snobs are everywhere and I cannot see that they have found a home within any particular Corvette generation. I suspect that snobbishness is a way of life that is personality driven and is not a function of owning a particular automobile.
Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (THawkbh)
I havent been here very long ,but have had great response and only positve remarks.I think that some closer to original cars and owners are just too nervous to really enjoy thier ride which may make them envious of c3 owners who can have a blast. I myself love the rush of launching down the track not worrying if I hit the wall and waste a hundred grand. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/hotrod12
Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (paul67)
As always Paul you and Robert make some good points. I have struggled over the years to keep my 79 as stock as the day it was delivered to the dealship in New Jersey. Maybe if it hadn't sat in a shed for 13 years I'd not have gone that route. And I am and most likely will always be an NCRS member only because I know how increasingly difficult it is to keep a 20, 30 or 40 year old car original. It's a lot of hard work to just find an original part, much less use it or find a way to rebuild it. And i would never want to make a blanket statement, some guys are OK and some are, well you know what I mean. Owners are like vendors.

WOW  I've owned 62,64,now 87, I was actually looking at C3's but personally as much as I liked the looks, I had a hard time looking over the
rise on the fenders-basically I think all vettes are  and most owners are also-sure you're going to find the oddball that no matter what their so narrow minded they can't see past their nose-but hey, I like those who like me-and I don't care what car or vette they own  it's ok with me. I think right or wrong a person is entitled to their views-snobbery is just plain :bs and those who shunn others with it are probably very lonely individuals. :seeya
Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (rick lambert)
I like it here best, it's like a large family.

:iagree: I once had a sticky thread in the C2 section and I got slammed by someone b/c he thought that this was only a place for conversation, not an online catalog. I like it here best.

If you C3 vettes that's a crowd (or a happy family).
Always C4 others that have vettes (watch after them)
If you C5 vettes that's a cruise & don't break the line.

Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (Fast81)
There is any other section than C3 ?????????????????????
:D :D :D :D :D
Ya, duh. C3s For Sale/Wanted and C3 Parts for sale/wanted
Anyway, i never go in the other sections (except occasionally C6 to see if there's a launch date yet) but i'm 1000% impressed by the C3 guys and the other forums while they might be really good would have a hard time measureing up to C3.

Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (groovyjay)
Heh...I love all year Vette's... I had a few C3's in my time and love the 69 Vert's. I think it's more of a peole thing then a Corvette year thing. People are people.. I hang on the C1-C2 forum mostly but due stop by C4 and always drop in on the C3 section here .
You guys have some really nice cars(C-3's) and I always love looking at your rides. I have always had the itch to pick up another 69 Vert. So to some it up.....yes we have a few people who forget that we all share the same Love of Corvettes and can be stuffy...but most C1-C2 guys are always willing to help out with answers and comments.
I did see that post on bumpsteer on C1 C2 and thought that some of the negitive answers were uncalled for. Hope you will not hold the C1 C2 section
in a negitive light.
If I can ever answer any questions about my C2 ..drop on by..I'd be glad to help out.......... :flag
Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (marshrat99)
WAIT....WAIT!!  Has anyone heard of LARS and the CCC????
Party??? Oh, yeah......
Most of the CCCers own C2s (with a running and body-off C3 tossed in). Most of the C2s are modified....cause we hang with LARS.
Now, in case there is anyone out there that doesn't know it, Lars owns a C2 ('64 aka: "Goldmember") as well has his daily beater C4. Has LARS ever been snobbish or treated those of you who have dealt with him badly????? Well????
Cm'on, guys. Don't generalize or characterize all us C2ers that way. Sure, there are gnorks with C2s just as there are gnomes and gnerks with C3s to C6s. And, good guys also!
 to ALL!! We're Vette drivers!

Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (Viet Nam Vett)
That was my impression on the bumpsteer post. A person looks for an opinion and gets a tacky reply. But not a typical and useful reply in C2 I must say.
Re: Attidude difference between C2 vs. C3 sections? (JB)
I dont know, I have always recieved good advice here. You guys helped me out with my exhaust system, (Spiral baffles)
And feel I have helped a bit when C3 folks show up on the C2 forum.
No hard feelings here, or anywhere for that matter.
I get poopiety when provoked, but most of the time really try and help.
