78' engine color
I have a 78' vette which has a orange engine, I thought all in 78' were blue. Upon further investigation, including engine removal for a freshing up, I do not find blue anywhere except on the back side of the hormonic balancer and a kickdown bracket. The motor has not been rebuilt, and is matching numbers, so I am now wondering if it was orange from the factory. does anybody know if this was correct?

The correct engine color for the 1978 model year was blue.

...and if the engine BLACK, that's a good sign the original engine has been swapped out for a "Goodwrench" 350

GM blue. Check your engine numbers; its either been repainted, or its an older drivetrain.
