Default distributor points questions----->

Ihave a mallory distributor with dual points in it
shall the points open simultaniusly ore not?
ore shall they open a little after each other?
how much can the timing be off when i change
the points?

Well, since noone else has chimed in, I'll give you a "probably."

I haven't screwed with a dual-point distributor in over 25 years, but my best recollection is that the points DO NOT open simultaneously. The reason for dual points is to give the coil more "closed" time, so just after one set opens, the other should close. That allows the coil to build up a bigger charge before the charge is dumped by the opening of the points. As far as timing, only the "Primary" set of points controls firing. The secondary set merely closes down to start the charge cycle again. But both must be properly gapped.
