Oh my goodness, I just realised that I don't have a CLOCK! I have temp, fuel, oil temp, oil pressure and amps, but NO BLOODY CLOCK. Have I been ripped off? Do I still have a REAL Corvette? Please, please, PLEASE don't tell me that I've bought some cheap Taiwanese Corvette copy!!!!
I don't have a radio either, or do I not have a wireless?? There's a new topic right there guys - radio or wireless....
I got almost thirty replies to this question. and for the most part some good opinions. And it was a serious question I felt necessary to sell this thing honestly. If it's a joke to you knock yourself out. but I came in here looking for guys who could and would help.

If you want an honest answer well here it is. ITS NOT OFFICIALLY A STINGRAY! But call it what you will.
Thanks for reminding us why we're here. I'm sure no disrespect toward you or your question was intended. The jokes and ribbing are directed at all of us who sometimes take ourselves too seriously, and not toward you. If all the joking has offended - please accept my apologies.
As to the original question, no matter how you interpret whether or not your car is a Sting Ray, or Stingray, or just Corvette, the bottom line is the ONLY difference was the little badges, and purely cosmetic. The "Stingray" never denoted a special version, nor options available only to that designation. It was either on the car that year, or not, and was not an option you could add or delete. As you have been patient enough to determine already, yours had no such badging from the factory.
Sorry if I came off as a smart @#$. I didn't mean to ridicule your question. I posted the same question a couple of years ago. I'm just laughing because THERE IS NO ANSWER TO THE QUESTION....PERIOD. Everytime the question comes up, it brings out a wealth of opinions. It just depends on wheather you want to consider "stingrays" being defined by badges, sales literature or comments by GM designers years ago. Call it whatever you want! They are all cool cars!
May I respectfully suggest you use the early (wavy) crossflag emblem to go with that beautiful flowing Stingray script and gracefully curving lines of your shark ? The post-76 straight flags just don't do it - sorta like wanting to put square nipples on gently rounded breasts - it's unnatural! :D

Allen,
I think that everyone is just fooling around a bit with each other.
You are not the target!!
The last year of the Stingray officially was 1976.
Dang it!!`~~ guess I still aint Got the picture thingee right yet

SSNUFFY, don't take it personally mate, I was just having some fun - very sorry though if you took offence. :_dupe:
As for posting pics, go to http://www.photobucket.com, register (it's free) then they will send you a activation e-mail. Follow the link in that e-mail and your account will be activated. Then, upload whatever pics you want to. You will then be faced with a screen that has (among other things) URL, TAG and IMG. On the photo you want to post here, highlight the whole thing in the URL bar, right click and "copy" then come into here and "paste". That's how I did it anyway. Good luck.....
Your respectful suggestion has been graciously recieved! I thought about using the earlier model flags but thought it would look odd with 2 different types on the car. I don't think I'll use the flags at all now, just bung the Stingray emblems into the Crossfire emblem holes...
:yesnod:
What happened to your wager? I was going to take you up on it......
Well, the bet would not have been fair considering I could have controlled the outcome  , plus after looking at it I felt it came off a bit rude. :nonod: But, just an FYI - only mods and admin are allowed to have animated avatars. When one sees yours they will probably remove it. Don't worry, I'm not a snitch, especially on Aussies
Damn, and I thought I was so clever making that avtar!! It was actually going to be much more grand (the lights coming up independantly then together etc...) but I lost interest... :skep:
Oh well, if it's removed it's removed - thanx for not squealing tho... :hurray:
All 69 to 76 Corvettes had Stingray script on the front quarter panels. The script was discontinued in 77 and replaced by crossed flags. Sting Ray as two words was used on 63 to 66 corvettes. No badges or script were on either 67 or 68. Stingray was a name only and did not signify anything special. Is your 80 a Stingray? I don't really know, but I would probably say yes. All C3s are Stingrays and all C2s are Sting Rays. Just my opinion.
I have to put up with "Oh its not a Stingray that sucks! Why did you buy this car when you could have had a Stingray?" I tell them this was a limited edition non-Stingray corvette :D
 :yesnod: ........yeah and I hafta put up with - "yeah, too bad '68s aren't Stingrays (there's no emblem) that why I like the '69s better !" :smash:
Yo Versk.. Hardtop looks great
Wow, they are EMBLEMS, I would say if they have them it's ok to remove them, but I wouldn't add them! You're sure to be scorned by "year spotters", when I was 6, I would have noticed you're late C-3 having a "extra" emblem.
That's your opinion and that's fine, but it's my car and so long as I'm happy with it, it doesn't really matter. Besides, the chance of anyone here in Saudi Arabia even recognising it as a CORVETTE, let alone what year it is or whether it has extra badges, is fairly remote....:iagree:
Crossfire emblem = pox
Stingray emblem = good looking and fills the holes in
Yep, it's your car, why stop there, go for the 4 foot wing! Nobody in Camel jockey land will realize that's not factory either! Good grief! "it's my car" :conehead :conehead :conehead
