I just finished the engine in my '76, flattops,pro1 heads, double pump holley,
ceramic headers, msd billet dist.,coil,6al box etc, etc, etc. but still have the same old mufflers that were installed at the local midas shop.Way back when
i liked the idea of the lifetime warrenty but i think i missed the boat when it comes to flow. With the motor flowing so well i guess the old midas jobs are
not the ticket out back.I don't know a lot about mufflers and their flow and was wondering if you guys might help me understand what i need and if the mufflers i currently have are as bad flow wise as i think.I can get a deal on some 40 series flowmasters and need some imput.
thanx wade
I had headers and the stock 2 1/2 system back to stock mufflers on my current motor. I had a custom 2 1/2 system and Delta Flow 50s put on the car. I picked up 2 tenths and 4 mph in the 1/4 mile. It helped a lot. The car pulls strong to 7000 rpm. Before it would run out of steam at about 6000 rpm. Definitly helped the flow. Any good performance muffler and good pipes will help it breathe.
The only reason to put flowmaster on a car is because you like the sound. There are alot of mufflers out there that flow better and make more power. I personally have Hooker max flows on my car, but the Dynomax mufflers are really nice also.
