Default Another new guy: Newbie car value questions

I am new to the Corvette world as our family Corvette (formerly owned by Grandparents and now my father) may be up for sale shortly

I have done some searching around on this forum and some used car trades, but before I put the car up for sale I thought that I would ask the experts...you folks, the Corvette Enthusiasts.

To help me value the car, here are the particulars/highlights:

1973 Corvette C-3
Engine: 350
Tranny: Auto
Paint: Corvette Orange
Interior: Tan
Racks
T-Tops
Original family ownership, records, receipts and original sales invoice
California Car
Numbers match
Maintained by Guldstrand Motorsports
New paint, gaskets and seals
New seat leather
New flywheel and rebuilt transmission
New starter
Rebuild suspension (new shocks, bushings etc...)
Too many parts and repairs to list...mucho $$$ spent over the years

No mods...all stock.

The car drives perfectly. It is a blast to drive and a shame that the "family heirloom" has to go, but we would like to find it a good home for someone that would really enjoy it.

I have a very basic understanding of what it might be valued, but as it is stock and original ownership and matching numbers it seems hard to value. I have not been able to find a fare comparison to judge its value.

I would like to post a picture (already in my avitar) , but need to figure out how here.

I'm not a pricing expert by any means so I won't guess at a dollar amount. The fact that you have all the documentation to go with the car will probably help put it above the "average" amount. Knowing which engine (L-48 or L-82) and mileage might help to narrow the price range a little.
It sounds like a nice car that's been well kept. Good luck with it.

Each spring, Vette and Corvette Fever run annual Corvette price analysis articles. Also, each month, they have an article which covers recent sales prices for Vettes of all years.

Vette magazine for May 2004 is the Price Guide issue. You might want to see if it is still on the racks or go to vetteweb.com. Their guide shows pricing anywhere from $14k to $26.5k, depending on engine options etc., for a 1 or 2 condition car (which yours sounds like). There is a footnote indicating "add 25-50 percent for an unrestored original", so if that is the case with your car, it may be worth a good bit more.

Good luck -

Edit - just noticed it has new paint, so it probably wouldn't qualify for unrestored original status...

As far as value goes, the only comment I have is to check:

http://www.manheimgold.com/

for some basic guidelines on pricing older classics. Prices are not set in stone, but it should give you some idea as to value.

As far as posting pics goes, you have to upload your pic(s) to a location on the internet and then in your post, click on the image tag button and place the whole address to the pics between the image tags. It should look something like this.

(note the image tags are misspelled so they will show up here and not
actually try and display a picture)

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Thank you for all of your responses. These are very good leads and I will research further. I double checked my records and I have the orginal sales order and invoice but not the window sticker. These documents do not list if the engine is an L-82 or not. I will look in other topics to learn more about this and how to deterimine if it is or not.

I will try to post (I will need a URL...haven't done that before) pictures later.

I guess it is too bad the car was repainted. Not only the expense of the paint, but its depreciated value. Didn't know that unrestored carried such a premium.
