Battery Quick Disconnect
I'm looking at buying one of those quick (twist) disconnects for my battery. Anyone use it and isit a good choice?

I think you will be happier with the blade/lever type.
The twist type sometimes do not disconnect or connect right.
The blade/lever type are positive connection.
Just my opinion.

They mount just like the green **** ones, one end connects to the battery terminal and the other to the cable. Something like this:

I'm using a blade type side terminal on my 75. Works great with no connect/disconnect issues.
Good Luck!

I have the twist one with the red key, mounted in the storage door above the battery, no problems yet. I do have a pic of another person that mounted it that way, not my car but the same. If you want the pic, let me know and I will email it to you.

I have had trouble with the twist kind, and so has a friend of mine. Sometimes it makes contact...sometime doesn't. I practically unscrew the **** all the way out to get it to disconnect. His was tight..but still did not make contact. Get the knife kind!!

I have been using the green **** type with no problems for about 15 years now. I have never had any issues with them. Turn it a half turn and it's disconnected. The blade type always looked to bulky to me.

I had the green ****, twist-type, and had to continually tighten it to ensure contact. Once I switched to the knife blad style, ALL of my problems went away. It is faster and easier to use and you have a positive visual indication that the car has been disconnected.

I have the green ****, but might switch to the blade. Who sells it?

They are for sale in the NCRS Driveline magazine but I have also seen them for sale at Advance Auto, in the section with fuses and other electrical supplies. I don't know the quality of the AA pieces though.

Re: Battery Quick Disconnect (trw)
The green **** type I purchased from Mid America was such a piece of crap I removed it. It was NEVER as simple as twist & no juice, then twist back and juice returns. Even when tightened it often made a poor contact, and the car would not start. I'd have to stand outside the car turning the ignition key with my left hand while my right hand was in the battery compartment jiggling the cable to get it to start, then the volt meter needle would spend the rest of the ride jumping all over the place. In the end it was actually simpler to just remove that waste of money, and go back to just disconnecting the battery cable every week while the car sat.
