Default L71 Tuning Help Needed

it's been a long struggle to get the K66 Ignition sorted out, but it's working and running now on the OEM ignition system.

now the timing is a challenge, the engine won't idle and run below about 1000 RPM, and at that the timing is about 30 degrees retarded by the timing marks.

This is with the secondary carbs closed and all vacuum plugged.

1968 L71 (stock) 427 - 435 Tri Power, all restored components.

any help on the timing and idle would be appreciated.

Going from memory, isn't base timing something like 10* BEFORE TDC, not 30* AFTER TDC?

Atart with 10 but run as much as your engine will take, I think mine is closer to 12-13

I would first determine if the outer ring on your harmonic damper has slipped, the engine would not run with 30 degrees retarded

I agree, had this happen with my car and was chasing my tail until I found out that my balancer was trashed.
