Hi all,
I just had my radiator boiled three years ago and already have visable scale deposits when I recently opened the cap. I remember reading an old post about using a cup of CLR to flush the radiator and wonder what others have used. I also wonder whether CLR could damage block gaskets? Any thoughts!
I've always used the 2-part DuPont stuff. Cleaner, then a neutralizer. The stuff is pretty aggressive, but even the CLR should be neutralized after use. I think the key is prevention by changing the coolant once a year.

scale comes from using tap (hard) water in your coolant mix. If you use distilled water you won't get this problem. Don't go for "soft" water from a home water softener as that still has minerals in it. Get distilled water from the store and use that.
