Default New Exhaust

I am going to replace my exhaust for the '74 and I am trying to decide on whether to install a Stainless Steel system (exhaust pipes, clamps, mufflers) or go with the Aluminum. Any thoughts and suggestions for mufflers and retailers welcomed!

Stainless is expensive and it grows when heated. I have heard of many problems with the fit of it when it gets hot. I have an aluminized steel system on mine. I had a custom system built by a shop tha tspecializes in exhaust. After 5 years it still looks good and the fit is better than the factory system it replaced. I'm running a 2 1/2 inch system with Flowmaster 50s on mine.

I also am going to replace everything in back of the headers. I want my car to be as deep and loud as possible. Whats the best Flowmaster to use in this case? Is it the ser 40 orig? If so what is the muffler # of the ones that fit a 72?

I think I'm going to use aluminum for the pipes myself but whats the best size to use 2 1/2?

PS not trying to hijack the tread away just trying to consolidate everything here so its easier for someone needing exhaust help to find whats needed.

You want loud? Go with under car chambered pipes.
