New Engine re-build pix need help posting please
Just got car back today after a long wait. This was a comprehensive re-build including engine, tranny, new clutch, new fuel system, new headers plus a few other items that were installed or fixed that were unrelated to the drivetrain.
On the way home I noticed two things. One was a noticable vibration coming on about 2400 rpm. This is a .060 over 427 pretty much stock, etc. The vibration was in the seat of your pants. The shop that did the work is a good one and I did request the engine be balanced (will have to confirm this detail next Monday). Engine was run on their in house dyno.
Don't want to jump to conclusions but is this a symptom of an unbalanced or incorrectly balanced motor? The flywheel and harmonic I supplied came off of my 427 so I know they are correct (internal balance). The vibration is also noticable when standing still and reving motor up above 2400 rpm. It seems to be pretty consant, perhaps less vibration on up to 3500 rpm. Don't want to rev any higher right now.
So, I know it isn't the tires. I am stuck with these possibilities I guess: motor, transmission (maybe not if it does it in neutral standing still), 4 spd. which was rebuilt also, clutch/pressure plate, flywheel and harmonic balancer. I did add headers also. Old engine was as smooth as a turbine. Hope it isn't the engine. Any ideas or similar experiences?
Second problem was a fuel leak and stumble while driving. I found where the fuel leak is coming from (in pix). Not so sure on the stumble. It revved quite nicely at a stop but under load it started bucking and missing big time over about 2800 rpm. May be fuel related but the leak is coming from the return line. We installed a 6AN Aeroquip supply line from the tank to the Edelbrock mechanical pump and are using a Mallory regulator w.press set at 6 psi. Since the supply line was increased should the return line also be larger? Carb is a Quadrajet. Only thing I could think of was the mechanic had to use a smaller in line filter than I had supplied due to space considerations. Not sure if that's it or not. Any ideas?
Sorry so long, just didn't want to leave a vague note about a vibration and fuel leak.
Pix to follow soon hopefully.
Thanks in advance.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
It appears to be leaking from the top connector (blue) and not the hose as it appears. Seems to be running down onto the hose when motor is running.

I thought seriously about a crate motor but in the end decided to have the 427 rebuilt.
I liked the modern look of the crate motor valve covers (thanks to Sallee Chevrolet for helping me find the correct parts to fit those small breather openings!) so that was my doing as was the new style K&N lid as well as the Jet Hot coated Hookers. Purists will not be impressed probably but I think it has a fresh look. It wouldn't take much to convert it to the stock look anyway (except for the fuel system changes).
Also, just a 270H Magnum Comp Cam. Just a bit conservative I suppose but didn't want to get too far away from steetable with a Muncie M-20 and 3:36 gears.
Dyno'd at flywheel : HP 456 @5,100 rpm, TRQ 536 @ 3,600 rpm. This with stock ovalports (L-36) and lowrise factory intake.
Car is a '69 Convert. I'll take a few car shots and post later.
