Really considering buying a set of Boyd's but the smallest my dealer has backspacing in is 4.5"'s. Is this to much or not enough?

the standard backspacing on the 71 is 4 inches on a 8 inch wheel. You should order the set of Boyds you want since they will make them to fit your car. I ordered a set for my car a year or so back and they were 17x8 with a 4 inch backspacing.

With a 8" wide rim you want 4" BS. 4.5" will move the rim too far into the fender.

4" B.S. is the most you can fit without modifications. My boyds are 17X8 with 4" B.S. . Boyd Rims are made to order. I waited 8 weeks for mine. See sig.
