Default Rebuilding caliper, what to lube the o-ring with

I am in the middle of a front end rebuild on my 74. I recieved a new caliper o-ring kit from VBP. I have stainless sleeved calipers orginally from VBP. My question is what do I lube the new o-ring and piston with to assemble the caliper? One of my repair manuals recommends using clean brake fluid as an assembley fluid. Any suggestions?

you just answered your own question. Why would you want to put any foreign substance in there to react with the brake fluid?

Clean brake fluid should be fine, especially with the O-ring seals.

Make sure its the same brake fluid too. I've been told that you don't want to mix different types. (dot 3/ dot 5) I don't know the difference though. Just what I've been told.

With the VBP O-Ring kit, you should have recived a small tube of lubricant to use for this purpose. I think they inlcude one with each two O-Ring packages. They talk about it in the instructions.

Assembly Lube is designed for this and will allow the piston to go back in easier IMHO.

I did get a small tube of lube in the pack for the front calipers. The reason I am asking these questions is that the kit came with no instructions and I have tried all week to contact VBP tech line with no success. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies.
