I hope it's OK to ask questions here.
It states complete except power steering pump.
This will work with the factory pump, correct?
Then just remove other old parts and put your new ones on.

In my 81 I have a aftermarket power steering pump so I understand i will more than likely have to have lines made. Im wondering if this kit will eliminate the use of the power assist piston Ill call it because I dont know what it is that I guess hooks into the stering column

If your aftermarket pump is in the stock location you maybe able to use the lines that come in the kit. I am not sure what you are calling the power assit piston. This kit will bplt from the end of the steering colunm shaft to the rack eliminating the stock connections from the column to the rack.

Thanks for the help I guess there is a shaft or piston whatever it is at the steering column that moves from side to side as you turn the wheel. Im guessing that stays

No it goes. The only then left before installing the rack in the PS Pump. Then two new lines High/Low connect to the new rack and pinion.
