F/S: '68 427/435 Coupe, 9,300 miles
Had this listed last month, but the thread had closed. The Corvette is still available and I encourage anyone that is interested to come and inspect the car. It really has to be seen in person to appreciate the condition of the paint and interior. Please contact me for photos or any questions you may have. Thank you.
9300 mile 1968 Corvette Coupe -427/435-4 speed
Our Corvette that we have for sale is a 1968 427/435 Corvette that has 9,300 miles. This car was sold new in the Chicago area and has never left. It has been stored in a heated garage since new and is in exceptional condition. The original window sticker, copy of the dealer order sheet and copy of the dealer delivery receipt are included with the sale. This is a three owner car and copies of all titles are also available. This car runs excellent and drives as new. It has been driven on 100 degree days and has run flawlessly and stays cool. It has never seen rain or been used as a daily driver.
It was ordered on November 11th, 1967 with Cordovan Maroon paint and saddle leather interior. This is an extremely rare color combination. Cordovan Maroon is the 2nd lowest exterior color for 1968 and saddle is not even listed in the Corvette Black Book as being available in 1968. The NCRS restoration guide lists the saddle leather as a special order with no production estimates. Being a special order vehicle, the car was not delivered until April 29, 1968.
All of the factory paint is in place except for the L-88 hood which was installed by the original owner in 1970. The hood is finished in correct laquer and matches almost perfectly. Please keep in mind that this is a 40+ year old paint and is not perfect, but I have been told by more than one expert that it is the nicest original paint 1968 vehicles they have ever seen. All of the original chrome, trim, glass and weatherstripping are in place. The car has all correct 1968 7" rally wheels with radial red line tires. The spare is a date correct Firestone red line that has never been used. The interior is 99% original and is in perfect condition. All fiber optics are functional and all accessories are operational other than the headlight switch. The headlight doors must be opened with the manual overrride under the column.
The original engine was removed in 1970 and sold. A ZL-1 crate engine was purchased over the counter and was installed in its place. This was in the car until 2003. The car now has a date correct 1968 427/435 engine in place. This engine retains all of its original stampings and is out of a Corvette built approximately three weeks prior to this car. The M-21 4-speed transmission is correct, but not original to this car. The original rear end is in place with 4.56 gears, although 4.11 came from the factory. A 4.11 gear set is included with the sale. The factory smog system is not in place, but a date correct small block pump and air tubes are also included in the sale.
The window sticker read: Cordovan Maroon, Leather Saddle trim, 4-spd CL ratio transmission, tinted glass, full-transistor IGN, special-Perf suspension, positract Axle-411R, 435 Turbo-Jet V-8
NEW PRICE $40,000.00
Please email me with any questions. I have several pictures that I can send as well. cljrace@aol.com

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread.
To answer the first question, no I am not a dealer. This is my car and I have owned it for about 6 years. Since buying the car back in 2004 my interests have changed and it seems that I have little time for the Corvette. I have put less than 200 miles on it in the last two years and I am just looking to find a new home for it..
To address the second question, I have tried to post pictures here and it seems that this can not be done without photo bucket, which I do not use. I have at least thirty very detailed pictures I can email to anyone that is interested. If you go to my forum member information next to my screen name there are a few pictures of the Corvette there. Not sure why I can post pictures there, but on this thread???
Thank you for your interest.

I have a couple of freinds that have sold Corvettes to people in Belgium and Norway that may be helpful if we needed them. Not sure if you have ever purchased or shipped a car from the US before. I also know someone that could transport the car to the east coast as well. Let me know how that Porsche sale goes.

That is a tan pinstripe that is painted on the hood. No other striping is on the car, just around the raised portion of the L-88 hood. They did a nice job, the color matches the interior perfectly.

I know you say you are selling because you don't have time to enjoy, but I have to ask if you are interested in any trades? I have a couple of cars listed in the C2 section cars for sale. I have a 69 frame off restored 69 Camaro big block, and a 68 Corvette L79 NCRS Topflight coupe. Thanks Ed

Thank you for the offer. Sounds like you have some really nice cars. We have a few other vehicles ourselves already that are all pro-touring/resto-mod type cars. That is where our interest has taken us and is why the Vette is for sale. It is a beautiful car and it drives like a brand new '68 Corvette, but the rest of our old cars drive like 2008 Corvettes. We put several thousand miles a year on our modified musclecars while the '68 sits home in the garage. That is why we have decided to let it go. Thanks again and good luck with your cars.
