For Sale: 1968 L36 Corvette - Top Flight
Hi Guys. My brother and I are trying to sell this Corvette for a friend of a friend. Its a beautiful car with great paperwork and a Top Flight! Feel free to call my brother Dan or PM me.
For sale here is an all original, born with numbers matching, 1968 Corvette Coupe with its original L36 427ci, 390hp motor and its original Turbo Hydromatic (Turbo 400) automatic transmission. Other options include tinted window glass, redline tires, am/fm radio, a 3.08 gear ratio, power steering and power brakes. These options are all denoted on the Corvette's original sales invoice!
History:
On December 6, 1968, Bob Sellars, head salesman at L.H. Chase and Sons Chevrolet, commissioned the sale of this Corvette to the original owner, Ronald Nanfelt. The car originally cost $5,611.05. This Corvette has only had three owners throughout the course of its life and the second owner treated the car to entire nut-and-bolt frame off restoration. Included in the sale of the car is a binder full of photos documenting the painstaking restoration process. At the time of restoration, the body was pulled from the frame and it was completely restored in original style lacquer paint. The interior retains near all of its original items too!
Awards:
The third owner showed the car through the National Corvette Restorers Society and it was award a Top Flight Award in Fall of 2010. This intensive process authenticates the trim tag, engine pad stamp and all other restoration techniques.
Paperwork:
The Corvette retains all owner history since day-1. The past owners have all authenticated its prominence and in fact, all original sales documents are intact. Included with the car is the original Protect-o-Plate, original owners manual + bag, original sales sheet, original pre-delivery inspection sheet, original dealer brochure and a host of other original items like the jacking instructions, radio directions, bill of sales, and even all previous owner contact information.
If you're looking for an investment grade quality, original Corvette, look no further. A Corvette with this stature is only going increase in value. The original motor, transmission and rear end have been judged by the NCRS. The paperwork authenticates the options and the overall condition of the car and quality of the restoration are second to none. For more photos of the paperwork please contact us. The car is located in CT.
$41,500
Thanks!

....don't see too many automatics in a '68 Corvette, let alone in a 427/390hp car.
...very stunning color combo.

Nice Corvette and good luck to your friend! Might be a stretch and not fair to the prospective buyer stating NCRS' "intensive process authenticates" the items mentioned. NCRS does not certify originality.

Beautifully restored vette!! BTW, I think you have a typo in your description. The fall of 2010 has not arrived yet.

Oh, man, a real Time Machine! Love the Blue/Blue & Red Stripes.
Worth every dime. I checked, and, alas, I am unfortunately a few dimes short. Good luck w the sale. Somebody is gonna get an investment quality 68 at a great price.
First year for the M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic AT in a Vette. According to the Black Book, 5,036 M40's were built/sold for 68, and probably not that many behind the 427/390.

....you couldn't get the automatic with the 327/350hp, but only the 327/300hp, the 427/390hp or 400hp. Seems "most" of the '68 automatic cars that I've seen were of the 327/300hp version.
