WTB 1968-69 convertible - up to $ 50.000
Hi.
I'm looking for a Vette with the following (ideal) spec:
( I was too late on the mod. yellow 1968 427 with new drive train that was for sale here a few days back)
Ideal:
- 1968-69
- Convertible w/ 427 Hood
- Paint: Fresh in Yellow, Black, Red, White or...
- Frame: "Restored" = no rust and upgraded brakes ect.
- Interior: "Restored" (Color Black or Tan)
- Driveline: LS3/7 or BB... but not important - I will most likely install a "new" LS/ T-56 if original engine/trans.
As you can understand I'm not "****" in terms of matching numbers or period correct.
I would like a "clean looking" '68/9 with "sleeper" steeet performance.
This Vette is most likely NOT out there, so I'm open for suggestions from members that would like to build it or have one close to my dream - I will then alter to my desire :-)
Thanks
PS: Budget is up to $ 50.ooo with the right combination - down payment can be made
PPS: For info I'm a 50 years old "kid" - and the proud owner of a Backdraft Cobra with a 427 Roush/T-56 + a 2003 HD Deuce - still room for the Vette :-D

Hi 2960,
I'm a stock kinda guy, but I do pay attention.
I don't think you can buy a 69 convertible and build it to your specifications for 50k if you're paying for parts and a professional build.
You might buy a finished car for that amount, but the seller is giving you his labor to sell his car and start a new projuect..
Good Luck.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for your input. I agree that building from a stock 69 would be hopeless, hence I'm open for suggestions. My list is for "imspiration" :-) The yellow '69 that just sold in this forum could have been an option - it went for $34'
I hope a similar 68-69 is out there - or a car close enough to make the final adjustment. For reference: When I got my cobra I put down $40' for the car and $20' in "upgrades"
Take care

Josh at Custom Image Corvettes should be more than able to get ya what your looking for. He is putting the last and final touches on transforming the once somewhat infamous 69 Vette known as "Killer" I to "Kaoss"' completely redoing the entire car leaving nothing untouched. Josh is definitely the shop who has personally done the most LS swaps and the one stop shop for the DIYer LS swap selling them all their supporting hardware, etc. He is a supporting vendor on here as of recently and also a long time regular member hobbyist before he decided to open up his own business. I flew out to Iowa from Miami to meet him for first time this past Friday/Saturday (short trip) and was very impressed from both a professional level to a social level. Here is his number 507-581-3076.
He installed a streetable/driver friendly 427 LSx/LS7 nicely modified heads/cam 600hp engine for me and it looked so bad *** seeing it in person yesterday. Cant wait to drive it in next couple of weeks and hit drag strip.

You might need to shop for something that meets all of your criteria except the drivetrain requirements. Mine for instance is everything you listed except that its stock drivetrain:
Its not for sale but it's an example of more likely what you could hope to find- new cosmetics, interior, paint, etc. The LS motor, etc, I think, is an easier 'add-on" after you find the car you want, but harder to find already done in the car you want. I believe your purchase dollar will go farther paying for completed nice cosmetics and excellent paint up front, rather than the modifed engine.

I just finished this car a few years ago from a frame off. most things are new on it, including paint and most of the interior. Not really planning on parting with it, but throw enough cash over what I have in it and we can talk.
These are to the ground numbers, so very close to LS6 LS3 specs with more torque. 468 NOM, so no worries about matching numbers.
If interested let me know. As I said not really that interested in selling becouse I really like the car and it draws a nice crowd, but everything has a price, especially toys. Would have to be around 30k for me to consider.
Good luck on your search in any case, sounds like it will be a fun car once you get what you want
