1969 427 L36 Side Pipe Coupe. Numbers Frame-off Documented
Payment received, the car is sold.
My friend Paul had posted a link to help me sell my '69 as I don't own a computer, but I have now registered on the forum so that I can post an ad myself.
1969 Monaco Orange L36, factory side pipe four speed coupe. Full three year frame off restoration on a good solid car. Original numbers matching engine, trans and diff etc... Everything rebuilt and restored.
$15000 on paint alone not including body prep, 1200hrs in reassembly.
I am asking $43000 for the car, it is located 30min from Interstate 87 and the NY border.
Thanks for looking,
Denis

Beautiful car at a bargain price. I'm sure you've spent way more than that. I've got $51k into mine and haven't even touched the paint, chrome or interior yet...so I guess mine won't be for sale until I croak and my heirs dump it on the market. Hopefully that won't be for another 20 years or so. Inflation is coming big time and collector cars will, if nothing else, keep pace.
If only our cars were L36/N14 C2 coupes, they would be worth twice as much. Personally I think the C3 is a better looking car, and Monaco Orange/Daytona Yellow are two of the best eye-catching colors.

Great looking car!
A '69 in Monaco Orange is my first choice if and when I finally get my C3.
I've never seen one with the Saddle interior, but I really like it.
The Black Book shows Black as the only standard color choice.
There was one with the Green interior on ebay a few months ago - that didn't really work for me.
Good luck with the sale

Thank you all for your nice comments.
Here is the text with more information from the ad on carsonline.com http://www.carsonline-ads.com/colsit...ostingID=53757
Corvette 427 Coupe. Monaco Orange/tan leather, 427/L36 390 four speed factory side pipe car. Spectacular recently finished three year full frame off. Original numbers matching L36,4-speed transmission and posi diff.
Fully documented from GM Canada, including L36, factory side pipes, and all options and colors. The car has been driven a couple of thousand miles since completion of the restoration, runs and drives perfectly. All sub systems including engine, trans, suspension, diff etc. were rebuild during the restoration, everything as new in and out. Magnificent $15K two stage Monaco Orange paint(excluding body prep!),the car looks amazing from any angle in any light.
The tan leather interior has been fully redone, all components new or restored, everything as new.
The frame, undercarriage and suspension are fully detailed. Over 1200hrs in reassembly of the car alone, in out or under nothing has been missed.
The car is on it's original dated rims, correct PO2 caps come with the car but it presently wears rally caps and rings. Pictures of restoration available on request.

Hello,
Thank you again for all the positive comments.
I have owned my '63 for over 30 years, and did a full frame off about ten years ago. I am a long time NCRS member, and I restored my '63 to have it judged.
When I bought the '69, my intention was to restore it to a nice driver level, something I could take to cruise nights and work on nice days, but unfortunately I got carried away.
It was never my intent to have it judged, so I had the body smoothed and went for a high end two stage paint job in the original Monaco orange. Since I had originally hoped to drive it, I painted the frame with POR 15 and put the TA's with beauty rings on it.
I have spent over $55K on the car plus my 1200hrs, the engine rebuilt by a pro builder with forged internals and a roller cam, the original carb sent out to be restored and replated, the diff tranny and everything else fully rebuilt or restored, like I said I got carried away.
I am now afraid to leave it at work or the supermarket, so I now have two cars that I can't drive, not an option for me.
Best regards,
Denis

Sounds about right, you certainly have experience and obviously know what your are doing when it comes to restoring old vettes. If you had put the car in a shop at a conservative $50 per hour, that would be another $60k...so you would have $115k into it. Regardless of the cost in terms of your actual money spent, the car is a bargain at $43k. Any wannabe vette owners out there who can't do their own work, let this be a wake up call. When thinking about buying an old car to fix up, remember that it is not the price of admission. Your "what's this car worth" threads are actually pointless. You really need to think about what will be your total creation cost to achieve the final result that you are dreaming about. These days it is better to buy one already done right...not halfway or incorrectly or poorly done. Collectible anything will have a better chance of keeping pace with massive inflation than your money sitting in some bank in the form of binary digits. Only gold would be better.
