Default 1975 Convertible in Missouri, 4 speed, 26,567 original miles

SALE PENDING!!

The time has come to sell our ’75 and get it into the hands of someone who can use it and enjoy it. We find ourselves doing more motorcycle things than Corvette things and as a result this beauty has been spending too much time in the garage.

Here are current pictures taken on Sunday (10/2/2011):

http://photobucket.com/75_Corvette

High level details include:

1975 Corvette Roadster (convertible)
26,567 miles
silver leather interior
factory A/C
350 V8 (L48)
4 speed manual transmission
power steering
power disc brakes
tilt and telescopic steering wheel
white convertible top and the matching dark red auxiliary hardtop
original factory color code 74 dark red

As noted it is well equipped with a silver leather interior, factory A/C, 350 V8 (L48), 4 speed manual transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, white convertible top and the auxiliary hardtop. It is painted factory color code 74 dark red. In October of 1993 this car received a NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) “Top Flight” designation. We have the certificate, ribbon and the judging sheets that show a grand total score of 98.1

This is a nice original car. The body and paint are in very good to excellent shape. Based upon the age of the car and some overspray evidence I thought the car had probably been repainted after winning the “Top Flight” designation. I contacted the original owner who had owned the car from 1975 through 1998. He very graciously explained that when the car arrived at the dealer the finish (thanks to product quality control in the mid ‘70’s) was not what he expected and the local dealer worked very hard to make it right. Those efforts included a repaint of some body panels to get a higher quality finish. Based on this info, with the exception of the new bumper covers (painted and installed in 2000) the car appears to have the same paint today that it had when awarded the above noted Top Flight designation.

Underneath you’ll find an excellent un-restored chassis. With the exception of an aftermarket exhaust (that sounds great) it is 100% original. This exhaust was installed by the second owner and unfortunately the original exhaust is not available. The chrome both inside and out is also 100% original. The interior has all the original upholstery and carpeting. The leather and other interior pieces show no cracks and are in near perfect condition. There are no stains or defects in the carpet or seats. The key buzzer still works as well as the original gauges (except for the clock). Under the hood sits the original motor with the original paint and accessories. The belt to the A/C compressor has been removed as the air conditioning blew cool air at best and as the top was usually down I saw no reason to recharge the A/C system. I’ve obtained a case of the old Freon (R-12) to facilitate a recharge should that be an issue.

We are the 4th owners and have the original owner’s manual as well as the purchasing documentation that shows the car was to have been equipped with the L-82 engine. It seems that sometime after placing this order the sales representative called and explained that getting the L-82 was turning into a problem but if they could use the standard L-48 they could get the car built and delivered much quicker.

Considering that the original owner really wanted the last of the Corvette convertibles he agreed to this change. In talking with him it turns out this was the second “compromise” as he initially wanted the car to be painted Steel Blue (color code 27) but due to some technical difficulties with that particular paint GM had decided to not offer the color any longer. That is when he decided to move forward with his order of the Dark Red.

The car was ordered from Albrecht Chevrolet in Wood River, Illinois. The actual date of delivery was March 28, 1975. The car’s second owner purchased the car on May 13, 1998. At the time of purchase the car still had the original tires. When the new tires were installed on May 16, 1998 the car had 17,372 miles on it. The original tires which have a considerable amount of tread, the second set of tires that were replaced last year along with the auxiliary hardtop are stored in our basement.

The car was appraised in 2007 for $35,000. Due to an insurance change and market conditions we had the car re-appraised in May (2011) and the current number came in at $32,000. I realize that the appraised value has little to do with the realistic street price and with that in mind we are listing the car for $16,500 but we’re open for offers.

Below are links to some photos:

I’ll be happy to provide additional photos. Current plans are for the car to be in the For Sale Corral at the Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend on October 8, 2011. Diana’s dark purple metallic ’95 will also be there. If you have any questions about either car please ask away.

Thanks for your time.

Default Frame Pics

I've had a few requests for a frame shot or two. I've added them to the main photobucket site and I'll post up a couple here as well.

I've also had some PM's that I've attempted to answer but your mailboxes are full. If you will delete some of your earlier messages and/or send me an email I'll respond back.

Thanks for the interest and for looking!!

Someone is going to get a steal on a very rare Corvette edition. Beautiful Vette. The 1975 convertible 4-speed with A/C is one rare bird. GLWS.

Default Sale Pending!

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to look at this post and especially those who offered all the positive comments. As of earlier this afternoon I have sale pending with a gentleman.

I'll provide a final update once the transaction is completed but my gut tells me that this is a done deal and that he and his wife will really enjoy this Vette.

Thanks again to all!
