70 L46 Convertible Body On Matching Nos
1970 Corvette Convertible. All numbers matching. L46 350/350 4 speed. PB, PS, PW, AM/FM Stereo, and shoulder harness. Car has been body on restored to NCRS standards maybe a bit better in terms of paint. Have not had judged. Runs perfect. Asking $36,500 or best offer.
White with standard black interior and black top. New BC/CC paint in original Classic White.
Car was originally purchased in Oregon and lived most of it’s life in Texas. As rust free as you will find. The frame is original and immaculate. Chassis is very detailed with almost all correct hardware and finishes.
Original Engine with original engine pad showing correct numbers.
Original M20 completely rebuilt including shifter. New Clutch.
Original Differential, Rust free and treated with RPM. PINION SEAL IS FIXED
Original Carb with Julian Date rebuilt.
Original Distributor rebuilt.
Correct Water Pump including Date.
Correct Exhaust Manifolds Jet Hot Coated. (Dates are not correct)
The entire rear suspension was rebuilt and detailed including trailing arms. Stamped trailing arms with date. Trailing Arms are powder coated and are the original trailing arms.
Entire front suspension was rebuilt and restored using ALL GM parts including lower ball joints correctly riveted. Upper ball joints are original.. Nicely detailed with correct hardware and finishes according to NCRS guidance.
Everything works as it should. The clock is quartz movement. Gauges were all rebuilt calibrated and detailed.
Only items in interior not original GM are the carpets, seat covers and pillar post pieces. Interior is close to perfect. Shoulder Harness webbing redone by Snake Oyl with original date tags.
Have two correctly dated rally wheels. Wheels currently on are reproduction with almost new radial T/As 225 70 15.
It will come with some extra parts and some original documents at this price. I do not have the original Protect-O-Plate. Tank sticker is in a baggy in pieces as it was in terrible shape. Nothing was legible.
Only major item not addressed is the top that is in pretty decent shape with nice clear rear window. Top has very minor wear on drivers side and is not NCRS.
Call to discuss. 301-440-0838 cell/text. Car is available for test drive and inspection. All items reinstalled. It is ready to drive to it's new home.
This is one of the nicest 70 Corvette Convertibles you will likely see.
Entire Frame looks this good. I could not get to some areas with body on.

Hi,
Bill, I'm sorry to see this post. I was hoping it wouldn't happen!
I've met Bill and had an opportunity to look at his car carefully and see the degree of detail and craftsmanship he's put into it.
It's really quite exemplary!
It will certainly be a car that someone can show, drive, and enjoy!
Regards,
Alan
If the future owner were to decide to have it Flight Judged the experience will be a pleasure for THE JUDGES!

70 L46 Serial Number
The serial number is 11327. This is a little early according the NCRS regarding the one piece ignition shield.
When purchased the only remaining part of the shield was the supports that attach to the intake manifold. They appeared original including the intake bolts. The has just a single weld nut on each side typical of a one piece 71 style shield. I opted to believe what appeared to be original regarding the shield supports.
I am attaching a picture showing the before restoration condition of the engine compartment as purchased.
Kind Regards,
Bill 301-440-0838 cell/text
The supports are clearly the later style with a single weld nut per side. The intake had never been removed based on original intake gaskets and the intake bolts certainly appeared to be original as well. Note I have the original air cleaner top with silk screen. It is not perfect but is original and decent. Label is pretty worn on the original.

In terms of doing an on body or off body restoration, it comes down to the condition of the corvette and your goals. In my case, there just was so little rust I could not justify a body off type restoration.

Market may be a bit soft now, but the car looks very nice from your photo's. I think just wait it out. Everyone here realizes you cannot buy and restore a car to this quality for less money. Just a fact, especially if you have to pay someone to do all the work.

The car looks beautiful. It might pay off the actually have it judged to see where it lands on the NCRS judging scale. That might justify the higher price.

I agree with jhudec and chazde3: if you are in a position to keep it on the market for several weeks or more, and you open the advertising up to other marketplaces, you deserve your ask (or at least very close) for the car. At least in my opinion. Heck, Alan's compliment alone is probably worth about $5k to an informed buyer!

Do you have it posted on other sites as well? I always wonder how well the forum serves as a spot to sell a vehicle. Most of us are here because we already own a Corvette and many aren't in the market for another one.

Hi Bill,
There are lots of folks looking for a 68-72 convertibles but only a small percentage of them have $38,500 to spend.
The sad thing is that there are many cars available for $20,000 that folks fool themselves into thinking they can make into what your car is for a few thousand dollars and a few months work.
You know the truth about what your car is and also what it's value is.
Regards,
Alan
Would you consider bringing it to Carlisle? (I can't believe I wrote that…. I cringe when I think of the cars that are for sale there!)

@Alan 71: Please elaborate on your Carlisle comment.
I was planning on going there to look at cars.
Would it be a waste of my time?
If this is considered a thread hijack, please reach out vis PM.
