Looking for a BA C3 in the $15K range.
Hey guys,
I am looking for something nasty. I have a C7 Z51 convertible and a fully restored ‘71 4-speed convertible. I’m looking for something raw and “nasty” in the $15k range to round out my Corvette addiction. Manual is a must. For this car, I couldn’t care less about numbers matching. Decent paint. Coupe OK. Must have solid bird cage/frame. The louder and nastier the better. :-) What’s out there?

I am interested in your line of thinking here because I am building the kind of car you are looking for. I would love to a new vette because of its performance and handling. I have had a restored stock C3 and understand why you want something nastier. So given the fact you have the newer vette, what in particular are you looking for in nasty? I will never have a newer vette so I want to make sure I make mine the kind of nasty you are looking for to fill in the gaps
Thanks

The thing about these C3s is the power should match the nice curves of the body style...L-48 just doesn't quite cut it in my opinion..

I would think he's looking for something with a kind of choppy idle, kind of loud exhaust and something that is real responsive in each gear....Wait a minute, that's my car.....

You're spot-on, John. I have the L48 in my restored '71. Amazing car, but lackluster performance. Now the LT1 in my '15 Z51 convertible is quite another story. Amazing performance. I put Corsa Extreme exhaust on it, so it sounds good; however, I am looking for something "raw" to wrench on, but not a beater.
I drove the 15 Z-51 at Ron Fellows driving school in Vegas for three days last year....True, great performance for a car off the showroom floor, plus rev match and track mode.....
I know what you mean by wanting that old school grunt from a worked small block .....I have a fully forged 383 stroker block in my garage for the past five years.....Was always planning to build that motor for the 73 but my worked 350 ran so good I just never got around to it....
Have a modded C4-ZR-1 that has over 500 horse so I'm guessing in time I may have to maybe sell one off....

1978 original white paint, ZZ4, Edelbrock FI, I did read that manual is a must, but I thought I'd give it a quick shout out with this one, just in case... a built Bowtie Overdrives 700R4. I can tell you that it's a LOT more fun with 400ish hp and the 700R4 compared to the VERY anemic L82 with turbo 350 that she came with. Mirror glass tops. Car currently garaged in Oregon, but has spent most of the last 20 years in Arizona. FWIW, all the original numbers matching parts are garaged in AZ, if desired, and you could call it a "one owner," if keeping it in the family counts

I have a car listed in this forum that may be (or could become with a little bit of work) what you want. It's listed here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...000-tn-al.html
It came with the L-82 (block number matching) but has been modified to add the Edelbrock Performer RPM w/Quadrajet kit. Hooker headers give it a nice rumble. It has the Muncie 4-spd. It's never been wrecked but the previous/original owner's mother got a little bit aggressive with a riding lawn mower so there's a little bit of fiberglass damage (pics in my post). Paint is good (minor scratches that could be buffed out).

Thank for the heads-up on the car, CJ. You have a nice ride there, and I don’t expect you will have trouble selling it, being a 4-speed with those miles and in that condition. I ended-up going with a C4 (‘94) that I plan to build up. I also have a fully restored ‘71 convertible to satisfy my C3 need, and I have a ‘15 Z51 to satisfy my need for speed (for now). :-) Good luck with your sale. I’m sure it will be gone in no time.

I'm in the market. I finally got the permission from the misses. It looks like you are in New York and so am I. Everything I've found that I like is so far away that going to see it is cost prohibitive. Are you seriously considering selling when you finish the body work or were you just toying with the idea?
