69 Convertible
I'm looking for a 1969 convertible driver. I work at home and only go out for doctors and groceries, so I might put about 1500 miles a year on it.
Of course, the more originality and matching numbers the better, but I'm looking for a restored car that I can drive for 6-8 years; one that doesn't need an immediate frame-off. Not interested in super "creative" things like permanent headlights or tubs or a 3-foot tall aftermarket blower. But properly done aftermarket side-pipes, MSD ignition, newer block, powder-coated frame, etc. aren't dealbreakers.
Must have:
- solid metal parts (frame and birdcage)
- hard and soft tops
- good condition (not a barn find)
- black or tan interior
- decent tires
Prefer:
- tilt/tele
- working, cold A/C (This is in the optional section because it’s not always available, but in Miami it’s a necessity. It’s a $3200 expense to add, so that will factor into price.)
- power windows, steering, brakes
I’m not in a rush. If you're not local to Miami, FL, I'll fly out and inspect if initial discussions are positive.
I'm torn on transmission. Probably should be AUTO, but damn ya gotta love a 4-speed!
And my budget is about $24k. Is that doable?
Thanks for any pointers! This is really the only place I know to look, and I'm here every day.
