SOLD : 1973 454 4spd, # match - blue/green $17K , Philly
SOLD SOLD SOLD
Hi all,
I have a numbers matching 1973 454 4spd with all options. This car runs and drives great! Shifts firmly with no knocks, leaks, or known issues with the engine. It does have AC and I have since connected it, even though the pics dont show it, sorry older pics.
This has the 945 blue/green paint code as well. It was resprayed some time ago but still looks great with no cracks, no chips, no fading etc. I will try to describe the car to my best abilities below. Please feel free to message me with questions. I have videos of the car running, driving, ext. Title in hand and is located near Philadelphia, PA. To be precise zip code 19073.
- Price is $17,000, yes its firm. I will NOT take $16k.
Pros:
-brand new rear Chrome bumpers
-brand new chrome rocker covers
-new headlight actuaters
-newer suspension and brakes
- no leaks, no grining, no knocks
-New stainless exhaust system
-Hurst Shifter upgrade
-Yes, everything works! (excpet the clock, that never works) windows are power, all lightts come on, high beem, low beem, lights go up and down, even the door chime
-All original interior and engine compartment. There are no repo parts on the interior. There is an aftermarket radio, yes it works great.
- The frame is beuatiful! no rust and no aftermarket spray on it, totally solid. Birdcage is the same, took off internal A pillar covers to verify. Solid and no rust!
-All in all this is a running and driving big block 4spd for under $20k. Paint is solid as well. Will it win shows? probably not, its a drivers car that doesnt need too much work.
Cons:
-There is a small rock chip on the windshield. You do not notice it at all while driving, or unless someone points it out.
-AC is hooked up, but I havent put a belt on or charged it, so no idea how cold it gets. I never even use AC in my normal car.
- It will need new tires. It drives fine and even went 90mph on them, but I wouldnt trust them on a long road trip, but a few miles is fine. Reason is one of the rear tires cracked open while the car was sitting. I have since put an extra wheel and tire on it for now, but it doenst match the car, so original wheel will be included, you can keep the spare as well.
- The drivers door arm rest does have a small crack in it, also the rear window plasit cover has a crack
- The paint is great and you wont have to redo it. However it does have a small blemish here and there. You wont notice unless you are literally face up against the paint and its pointed out to you.
-The car has 104k miles. That may not mean much to many people for a 48yr old car, but just pointing it out.

The car looks to be in nice condition, especially for a northern car. You say that the pictures are older pictures, how old are they? Any pictures of the frame available, especially of the kick-ups and core support areas?

Hi gbucci24, definitely interested in your ride. I got a deposit on a 2020 C* which turned into a 2021, so there's no telling when and if I'm going to get it. I know Christmas is right around the corner, so things are iffy right now as far as travel is concerned until after the holidays. I originally was looking for a big block 4 speed with AC that wouldn'r break the bank and it's gets hot as hell in Florida. My email is murfmann@gmail.com and i'd be interested in those videos you say you have, give me a shout and thank you very much

Remember Net and Gross are two different measurements. It's not as far behind an LS5 365 HP engine as some would think.

Interested in your 73
Very interested in the Vette. Not only an A/C big block but also my favorite color combo. You mentioned you have videos of the car, can you send them to me? E-mail: steve@knaackfamily.com.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sad, considering that just two years earlier the same displacement put out 425HP. I love to watch engineers solve problems, but back then the emissions requirements must have been so sudden that the engineers could only hack down the cams, restrict the ports, shrink the carbs, and hope for the best.

Burning Brakes
Two years earlier the ratings were gross HP. The 425 you mention was an LS6 and a very, very rare bird; 188 examples I think. Whereas the LS-5, close to this was rated at 365 for '71 ... these are close to the old 427/390 in terms of cam spec, compression ratio is lower. The '73 BB is a very good engine and overlooked. Moderate upgrades can really wake this up; but ... old cars now are not so much about going fast. Want fast; buy a newish Camaro or Mustang.
Nice car .. sad to see the low price.

270 HP is more than enough to get you into trouble if you hit the gas pedal too hard at the wrong time. I put one of my Corvettes over the curb one time goosing it too hard.
