the key is the deal
OK, the car is cently priced. If you dont mind using a wrench you could get it back on the road pretty quick and peice it back to gether a little at a time.
Some of the people on this forum only think that a vette is raod worthy if its a NCRS contender.
I would tell the seller that if he wants to sell the car to take his title and reg to the nearest GM dealer and get a key and call you when he gets it, to keep him modivated you can even tell him you'll split the cost and add it to the deal the car runs good and you opt to buy it.
The side glass is about a 30 minute install without the door skin to contend with in case you need to leave it in the weather. slightly bubbled paint is no big deal for a DD.
To me, sounds like a cheap way to get on the road in a great part of American automoble history.
Or..... you can part it out, let me know when you do I have list for my DD work in progress.
my 2 cents

Like posted before, it's something worthy of restoration, not an average Corvette. Also, Corvettes are just starting to climb in value. A Corvette collector would love to add a rare C4 like that to his collection. Those are the ones going for a lot more than average, even with the miles on it. I'd contact someone in this line of work to get an estimate of what it would sell for finished. I think it would be worth doing, IMO.
Offer him $1500, see if he takes it.

Just say to the owner that you're gonna try to put $10k back in it just to get it on the road again and he might just fall for it if you don't say you are actually gonna profit by parting it out.
I'll start... You can sell me the D44 for $1500. Deal?

Correct me if I am wrong but I think this is the "only dealer/person" to ever have had a "special run" on the vette assy line.

Exactly! Put in a cage, a nice crate engine, some new suspension parts, track tires, 6pt harness, and go have fun!
