Default Weatherstripping Question

I read in a post somewhere on this board that using di-electric grease on weatherstripping would help preserve it. I have a '94 that has much of the weatherstripping cracked and brittle. Would the di-electric grease help here??? Does it help preserve new weatherstripping??

It keeps all the rubber trim and weatherstrips in new condition. Especially those that wipe the windows.

Once it is cracked there's not much hope. Depends on how bad and whether you have any leaks because of it.

It's not too expensive to replace them, but its a bit of labor intensive.

Di-electric grease will help to preserve new/undamaged weatherstrip, but it will not bring back cracked/brittle weatherstrip.

A really nice product that I like to use on weatherstrip is actually made by BMW. It's called Gummi Phlege and it's great.

I have a 94 convertible. Just replaced the front window seal. Rather easy 3 screws on each side, weatherstripping just slipped into groove around window. There was no adhesive on original pc, so i didn't put any on the replacement. Will see how this works once i start driving the car, still in storage. I also bought some weather strip conditioner from one of the online catalogs. Looks like vasoline??
