Do they really work? Can you feel the difference? If so waht brand is the best.
Only have 91 octane around me and wondering if adding some octane boost would make a real difference.

You need to read up on them. A "octane point" is not usually an "octane point" It's like a 5th of a point or something so the cheap ones don't really raise it much at all. The good expensive ones do raise octane considerably but then again, it would be cheaper to buy 93 but if you don't have access to the higher octanes then you could do it.
Octane boosters don't really increase performance unless you have a high compression engine that needs it. All they do is make your engine stop knocking. I have a friend that adds octane booster to his stock Lexas IS300 and swears he can feel a difference in performance though. I just smile and tell him he's a dumb@$$. If you car is supposed to run on higher ontane than what the pumps will give then yeah it will help. Otherwise, increasing the octane won't make an appreciable difference.
I agree - unless you have a high compression engine, you won't notice much of a difference. I only have access to 91 octane here, and my 92 Lingenfelter 383 doesn't run too smooth on 91. When I put in the octane boost it runs smoother - but the power gain is neglible.

add my vote to the concensus. I used many of the "over the counter" brands that can be found at Autozone and never noticed a damn bit of difference.
The only way to know for sure is to try. Do some prelim tests on acceleration and gas mileage... then put some additive in the tank and do them again. As they say... the proof is in your pudding.

My 2 cents:
I have a high compression motor.
I run 100 octane all the time.
I try to run about 107 with the juice at the track.
Yeah, I can buy 100 at stations around here.
My point is if I go out of the area, and need gas, I am stuck.
I use an octane ADDITIVE. Not a booster.
Those boosters are a waste of $$$
I use TORCO octane additive.
Directions on how to mix to get 97,100,105,110, etc, octane on the can.
Torco is the official fuel supplier to IHRA.
Heck you can get 55 gal drums of Nitro-Methane from TORCO if you want, so they know their stuff.
Back to the boosters. Don't waste your money.
Also, if your car does not need high octane save your money.
Booster is a waste of money. 16 ounces of oxygenated crap.
Toluene is about the cheapest way to increase octane but then you only need to do that if you car is tuned for higher octane. Might be helpful at the track if you are trying to eliminate detonantion but otherwise it probably isn't necessary.
