Reproduction weatherstrips
Has anyone bought "Precision" brand weatherstrips for their Vette? They are sold by The Weatherstrip Store. The price is very good, but are they a decent product? We've all heard stories of poor reproduction weatherstrips out there, and I hate being the victim...

I've used GM/Delco weatherstrip (ungodly expensive), and generic brands...
From what I've experienced and what i've been told:
Door weatherstripping, and outer window seals/sweeps should be GM, because of issues with reinforments and precise fitment.
Anything else, generic seems to be okay.
Some people are die hard delco only believers... but the generic stuff is so cheap, that it's not a big deal taking a chance on it just to see if it works.
I've used generic for the "B Pillar." Looks good, fits good, doesn't leak.
I've used both for the outer window seals. GM is vastly better.

i have never heard a good replacement weatherstripping story yet. they all seem to turn out nasty. someone here should invent and manufacture a good set. could make some good money.

Please enlighten me as to why it's OK to use generic on the B-pillar and nowhere else. I need the new B-pillar right now. It seems like a likely leakage area if the part didnt fit right. Where is the cheapest, best quality place to buy this part? Thanks

Alot of the weatherstripping on the doors have plastic reinforcements in them. The generic brands seem to not be able to build those right (or don't put them in at all) and they bind the windows when they are rolling up or down.
The "B Pillar" is just rubber, there is nothing special about it.
The rear hatch uses reinforced corners, but it seems like the generic ones have these reinforcments and they are okay.
I do not know anything about the front window weatherstrip.
Hope that was helpful

You need to check out this ebay seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6763
I replaced A & B pillars along with rear hatch that I purchased from them. The fit and quality are excellent. No leaks. It is a good idea to hit the high wear areas with di-electric grease for lubrication.

Replaced the hatch rubber with Corvette rubber product. Half the price, and the fit and wear is great so far!!! I heard that the only time you should suck it up and by GM is with the pillar/windshield.
