replacing / updating speaker enclosures on early c4?
recently got a new stereo, and it's time to get some decent speakers as well... but.. both the front and rear speaker enclosures on my '86 are hacked to $#!+ thanks to the jack@$$ who owned the car before us.
It has pioneer 5 1/4's in the doors and 6x9's in the back, but it's so half-@$$edly installed. Both enclosures look like they were attacked by a sledgehammer to fit the speakers in, and then they are literally randomly screwed and duct taped in place.
I would *really* like to put replacement enclosures in there or, if they exist, enclosures that will fit the 5 1/4's and 6x9's properly..
any help, guys?

If i remember correctly, the rear bose enclosure accomodates 6x9's. As for the front, do you really need a box. I mounted 6 1/2'' on homemade mounting plates and stuck 8'' subs in the rear factory location using a homemade mount as well.

The rear is a large fiberglass enclosure i the rear fender.
The stock speaker is in a small box in the big enclosure.
And this is the enclosure from under the car.

thanks guys, the forum comes through again!
...and sorry if i sounded a bit harsh in my original post, but the speaker setup hasn't been the only thing on my vette that the previous owner screwed up or beat up, and the 'quality job' they did on the speaker enclosures is about par with anything else they did
