First drive...might be crazy but I couldnt resist.
Took a young (19) lady friend of mine to get her drivers permit today (she's procrastinated a bit) She sucessfully passed and got her permit and I couldnt resist giving her a story to tell her kids. The first car she ever drove legally was a Corvette. She was scared to death, didnt want to drive it but I convinced her. Just a few blocks to the house on quiet residential streets. Her little brother almost died when he saw HER driving the vette. Yeah, I may be crazy, but that's what these cars are about, bringing big smiles to peoples faces.

Something I'm sure she'll remember forever.
I let my 18 yr old niece drive my 'Vette shortly after I bought it.
My sister and her husband nearly $%!t a brick when we pulled up with her behind the wheel. She was scared to death. She was saying "I can't drive this thing it is way too fast!" I told her it is only fast if you push hard on the skinny one on the right. She did just fine.
Best, Mike.

I let my son drive mine, after he first got his license-he hit every hole and bump in the street, afterwards, he said that he was too busy looking at the dash, with the digital display! My daughter turns 16 in a few weeks, I'll give her the same deal!!

You're right...that is what it's all about (bringing big smiles to peoples faces). I have given several of the 15 yr olds in the neighborhood rides; dunno about letting them drive it when they hit 16, but they were thrilled by the ride!! :D

Outstanding... you absolutely made her day. I don't think you're crazy at all... just one of the "good guys".
My most memorable "let drive" is my son. When I asked him if he wanted to drive, his answer was, "Come on dad, I've never even sat in a Corvette, much less driven one. Let me ride for a while and get used to the idea first."
When we got out on the highway, I went through the gears (about half throttle) and his only comment was, "Oh my God!!!"

Re: First drive...might be crazy but I couldnt resist. (Oly)
It really makes me feel good to know that we belong to a brotherhood of car owners that can and do bring smiles and dreams to others. I know when I was a young boy I would have given anything to ride much less drive a corvette  . I've told this story before so i will give a abbreviated version. :
I was on my way down to see my fiance' and stopped at a country store to fill up with gas. A little boy was out starring at my car while I was doing this, so I let him sit behind the wheel while I finished gassing up and going in to pay. When i got back to the car, the boys grandfather was standing there smiling. He then told me that the boys parents had just died and he was living with him and his grandmother. It was the first time he had seen the boy smile since the accident.
Everytime I drive down to see my finace' I stop at this store to fill up or just to get something to drink in hope that I will see this young man again. It breaks my heart thinking of that boy and I would love to make him smile again. :seeya

I have started teaching my 14 year old son to drive. We go to a large parking lot and do figure 8's and other manuvers. Even a few full throttle runs. I am not sure when we go to the street, but we are both having fun for now.

I told my brother (15, permit) that he could do a high speed pass in my car so I could get it on tape . He said no  he doesn't trust himself. Well I gave him the chance:D.

I let my 20 year old sister drive, she isn;t the greatest driver (3 accidents in 3 years ). But she sure loved it! Her smile was the greatest.
Then I let my mom drive the car, we got on the high way, and I told her to go full throttle. She does my tranny downshifts throws us back into the seats and she immidiatly lets off and says "oh my god, thats scary". HEHE
When I first got my vette, I took my Best Friend for a ride, his smile was g reat too. When I went WOT the first time, his remarks were "OMG this thing is fast, slow down! your scarying me"... Then we cruised around town, and he kept on telling me how everyone was looking at my car, and that its the greatest feeling in the world to be riding in a "corvette".
