ok, i've had my car for about 2 months now and it's stock, well except for a 160* thermostat. I was wanting to do some mods to it but don't know what. I was looking for mods that are cheap (well nothing's cheap, you know what I mean) and easy to do, something I could do myself. Does anyone have any suggestions on some mods that I could do to my car???
I already have planned a K&N air filter.
I'm about to do some "cheap" things to mine too (I've only had it 2 weeks ). The K&N filter, the open filter lid, the throttle body airfoil and the smooth coupler (replaces the accordion style one). All for about $200. A few other cheapies I may consider are the fuel pressure regulator, the underdrive pulley set, and well you already have it, the thermostat.
You said you wanted to do some mods, are you talking performance mods or you looking for apperance mods? I'm planning on some apperance mods now, I haven't had the performance mod hit me yet ;) . I guess when those C5s start whipping up on me I will though.
first cosmetic...later performance. I saw these bassinni exhaust pipes and polished exhaust plate in a pic on a red vette like mine. I wondered how much I should look to spend for them and where the best place to look is.
what are some of your ideas?
Cool to learn about the "smooth" intake piece...I took my car to the track for the first time last night, what a dissapointment!! I wasn't expecting much, but the car was consistently falling on it's face at 3K rpm, way short of peak....when I popped the hood after a run. I found the bellows was collapsed!! My theory - it was collapsing under load and strangling the motor! Any thoughts? My '92 Z had the L98 also, and the bellows was avery firm piece of heavy rubber...I'm curious if mine is just screwed, or if others have a soft bellows too. Mine sucks....anyways, thanks for the info on the smooth piece...I'm ordering mine today!!!

Lets take these one at a time.

"The K&N filter, the open filter lid, " Good move can't go wrong here but don't waste your mony on any air intake products. You don't need them till your making a lot more HP and then we don't know if there is a real gain.
the throttle body airfoil : A total waste of money, Save your dollards toward a new throttle body, You'll need one someday. Or buy it and use as a paper weight.
and the smooth coupler (replaces the accordion style one): Another joke, Everyone was spending big money on nothing so I made mine out of a set of traffic cones. They didn't make me go any slower so I left them on. They took about 1 HOUR to make including driving around looking for the cones.
fuel pressure regulator : Made be a worth while mod on some cars but I still don't have one on mine.
the underdrive pulley set, : I hear to many cases where the battery doesn't charge correctly.
