New C4 Products Needed by Owners?
Here at Mid America Motorworks, we are always designing and manufacturing new items & parts. Are there any parts that you, as C4 owners, need or would like and cannot find?
We would like to hear your ideas and suggestions.
We do listen and appreciate your business!
Thanks!
Steve

how about a rachet type shifter for a4's, there are plenty of shifter upgrades for stick trannys, but for auto tranny guys we have to get a camaro shifter and modify it to fit our c4's. how aobut designing one exclusively for c4's and making it bolt in with minimal cutting and drilling of a few holes, with a short shifter.

I'd like to see some new exhaust systems for older C4's like my '85. I've been looking for one, but havent found anything that will fit my budget or is of good enough quality. I'd like to replace everything from the front Y back including mufflers. 2 1/4" pipes seem to be too restrictive or so i'm told.

Melting Slicks
Here's a few ideas that pertain to early C4s (free of charge):
1. Replacement shifter for 4+3, with adjustable hard stops.
2. 2 1/2" true duals with optional x-pipe for L98
3. Metal heal pad for drivers floor
4. Replacement accelerator pedal adjustable for step-over height
5. Battery tray and holddown, custom fit for rear compartment
6. Reasonably priced direct fit cd player/head unit (not $500)
7. Offer individual carpet pieces rather than front/rear kits
8. Adjustable sway bar links (not $130 for a couple of rod ends)
9. Short travel clutch pedal that will still engage start switch
10. 13 and 14 tooth VSS drive gears
A few more:
11. A bypass muffler like a warlock with dual screw on outlet tips, (one dummy) To bypass, just unscrew and swap the two tips to retain original look.
12. A 2ft tall superbird style wing (there goes my credibility)
13. Early C4 decal for popular ZR1 style wheel center caps.
14. Offset bushing assortment (1/2", 1/4") for rear batwing to correct body chassis alignment/ride height offset etc.
15. Spark plug wrench for #8 cylinder, deep offset, deep box, short handle

C7 of the Year - Unmodified Finalist 2021
C4 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
I guess you could start supplying cut pieces of sound and heat insulation made to fit a C4 perfectly, separate from your carpeting pieces.
Another thing might be to solve the longstanding problem of poor AC airflow.
Also, the anti-squeak pads you currently sell for the targa will not withstand heat. The sticky part will start to come off and the pad moves around into any crevice it can ooze into, sometimes it can just come off completely.
You could start selling the adapter plates we use for the C5 brake conversion, and if youre smart you'd go ahead and make one for the C6 conversion onto all C4s. (not just 88-96 like everyone usually does). If you cut a good percentage off what Electrodynamics charges you'd get some volume too.
Other than removing the bogus HP claims from nearly all your gimmick performance parts, I dont have anything else.

-ZR1 rear bumpers/doors/1/4 panels, maintnenance parts-Gaskets, secondary actuators, that sort of thing.
Oh, and bumper mouldings!
-A TPI that actually flows some air without breaking the bank.
-Plastic formed vacuum lines that route in/around the plenum area.

A lot of these Corvettes need interior upgrades / enhancements. I could not find the center console side sections when converting my interior color.
Decent steering wheel options.
LED rear tail light upgrades that don't break the bank.
A decent driving light kit that looks good.
Tastefull body ground effect kits that would make the larger size wheels look comfortable on the C4.
Stainless steel headers, front / rear y Pipes and exhaust.

Belt trim on early C4's
Complete belt trim for the 84 thru 90 - as it stands now only some of the sections are available. you have to either do with what you have or find usable pieces from a salvage yard that are not worse than the ones you want to replace.

I'm with you fellas... it would be nice to have a Corvette specific option.

Many of the coolant hose (other than the radiator hoses) and small hose/tubing assemblies are no longer available from GM. And these are also not available through any autoparts store either.

A few ideas:
-Spray paint to mimic the satin "dulso" finish on the interior rubberized coating dash parts. I don't care about the rubber feel, just a product that looks right and sticks to the plastic.
-Brushed stainless steel like door sill protectors.
-Ram air front plate cover (A/O engineering); as a package and just the front plate cover seperately. They also make/made a cool dual brake calipler conversion kit.
-Fuel-rail cover emblems.
-SS inserts for both front and rear bumpers.
That's all I can think of right now...
