Rebuild Opti?
Distributor contacts? rear passenger side sparkplug is not getting spark into the wire and to the plug from the opti but all other plugs getting fire. Can the opti be opened up and have the bad contact replaced inside the optispark. Pic's look like regular replaceable parts of a distributor.

You can do a cap and rotor but that is it.If your not getting any codes I have never heard of 1 plug not firing on an opti.It usually runs like crap and misfires when the cap and rotor goes.Code 16&36 indicate the optical sensor failing.I would be checking the wire and plug before you touch the opti.

What year is your car?
I agree with Redeasysport, check the spark plug wire first. Make sure its attached firmly at both the opti and spark plug ends and that it isn't broken internally.

I bought my last cap&rotor from Advance I really could not see any difference between it and OEM original. But as bogus said it may be time to replace the entire opti. How many miles on it?If more than 25K I would replace the unit for sure under that look real close at the bearings and interior for coolant/water contamination.Either way the WP and balancer must come off (most people replace the WP at this time look at the weep hole I bet is shows leakage)and you will need a Factory Service Manual for the proper torque values.

You can use a condom twice I suppose but I wouldn't suggest it
Buy a new one

service
so inspecting the replace opti job and it looks like the subframe has to come down out of the way so I can get in there to the OPTI and balancer. Any tips for servicing. Another way than moving subframe? Where can I get a good manual that describes getting to and changing the optispark? Thanks to all, ac.

as far as links to info
I found the corvette fever article that shows servicing the opti but it gave no input on getting to the opti or getting it out. Thanks again. AC

You dont have to drop the subframe or anything else. Just follow the directions in the magazine ad. Thats what I did & had total success. Its not that hard & also think about replacing the plus & wires at the same time.
(edit). My magazine is not Corvette Fever, its Corvette Magazine

You just need to pull the balancer and get 1 hole on the hub at the 6:00 position to get the opti out.If you decide to replace just the cap and rotor I have one for sale for your year in the FS section brand new.
If you do not have the FSM now would be a good time to get it from www.helminc.com as you will need it for the proper torque values for re assembly.
