My former 90' about $6000 in repairs and mods in 2 years.

I had over $5000 in my '85 in two and a half years. The car was totalled and now with the '90 I'm looking at a new starter after a month of owning it. So far not so bad! Oh, and the smog pump is making some noise, but I'm putting a used one on I picked up elsewhere....

I was pretty lucky to find a low milage C4 (10,000). So far all I have done it put on a new set of tires at about $1,200.00.

'88 Z52 Red w/Red Leather interior, goodie tires, busted radio, a/c broke, crack in air filter housing
Less then 30 days into owning it:
$900 new tires
$145 new alternator
$40 new air filter housing
$100+ K&N Air Filter & Open Air Lid
$40 TPI Air Foil
$100 misc other little restoration parts
$30 New battery
$28 Oil Change
$5 jumper cables
Soon:
$475 for new exhaust
$??? stereo complete re-do
I'm sure there's some more goodie I'm forgetting it ;P
I love my car though it tears through the gears like a beast, oh and today it was able to chip the tires in shift from 1-2 and then from 2 - 3 ;) I was most proud as I showed my buddy the speed from 0 - 100 ;)

just shy of 2 years now (sept 3rd purchase anniversary!) and i'm well over $20,000 above and beyond the original purchase.
this would include 2 motors, various suspension/brake/clutch/gear/exhaust upgrades. new rear suspension, twice (parking lot incidents while i was out of town!).
stereo upgrades, tires and who knows how much in oil and gas ..
20k would've been a nice down payment on a z06, but hey, now i've got the 383 i always wanted and besides, '05 is the year to buy new!

We've spent about $3000 in about 32 months of ownership with the 85. We've had the Ruby for 2 months and I have a wish list but we haven't really spent any $$ on it yet.

I have the receipts but will never total them. I don't want to know. Money pit comes to mind.. :rolleyes: Next vette will be very closely inspected now that I know what to look for.

jeeezzzeee I think I'll keep it. I've spent between $100 and $200 on it since March. Just spent $$ on cleaners, polishes, sandpaper, new wheel locks, a tool to take the top off, replacement antenna, and one headlight motor rebuild kit.:blueangel:
Another $1000 on weatherstripping and spot painting and the exterior will be in "better" shape. Then its time for exhaust, I'm leaning towards replacing it all from the engine back (headers, high-flow pre-cats, cat, muffler elims). Still need to find some exhausts to listen to before I make a decision. :cool:

Ive spent about 600 bucks for a new battery and other misc interior and exterior do dads to make her complete. All this since last Oct.
