wood dash

I did a lot of searching on this subject. I don't like the look. It just doesn't go with the car. I would prefer to wrap certain pieces in leather like a ferrari. I might try it on a few.

There are a lot of different kits out there. Gotta shop around. I haven't shopped in a while, so I can't help with links.
The main thing is having the wood grain blend in rather than take over your interior.
That being said, I haven't found a decent C4 wood grain kit yet that didn't look like an add on.

There was a kit installed on my car when i bought it. Personally, I think it makes the car not as plain. Its one of those things you either love or hate. There are some pictures on this website whch hasn't been updated in a while. http://www.angelfire.com/nj4/1987gta/ Just click on 1993 Vette on the side bar.

Like Black Rose said, it seems to be a love it, or hate it thing, one member compared it to the dash in a mid 70's olds vista cruiser wagon, me i like it, but then i had a lot of fun bouncing up and down in the back of a vista cruiser,.....and that might have something to do with it! ...

Had it in our 88 when we bought it. I thought it looked like sh/t but the wife kinda liked it. It was kinda yellow colored maple I think, with just a clear lacquer over it. Our vette is a white coupe with a red interior, when I took it out it really improved the look of the interior I think but now I have to contend with the holes left behind on the panels as it was just screwed in. also, the bread box had been replaced and so i just covered it with some black leather like vinyl I bought. looks pretty good. but those holes, i need to start replacing all of the panels and at about 75 bucks apiece, whew, welcome to the money pit.

Our used 87 came with the look like wood dash and I absolutely hate it. It is so ugly plus whomever installed it did a terrible job. I can't wait to replace it before my daughter starts driving it. Standard black will look so much better.

I had a wood kit on an 82 Vette. It came that way from a previous owner. It was okay but I wouldn't put out the $$$ to buy one. I like the look of the stock appearance. Each to their own. If you like it, go for it. It's your car.

Would you happen to know which brand your kit is or possibly find out ?

I Had A Real Rosewood Veneer Dash Kit...
in out old 1987 Coupe and it not only looked great with the bright red paint and graphite interior, but helped me win a shelf full of trophies at shows. Our car stood out from most of the Vettes with the plain old black plastic dashes.
We now have a 1995 Coupe and to break up the monotony of the almost all black interior, I'm installing a red carbon fiber dash kit, flame red shift boot and arm rest pad.

It's my general observation that wood dash kits look better in the early C4s with the flat dash. And other colors tend to look best in the 1990 and later models.
