%$#@ you do some nice work. You ought to save your photos and descriptions and put together an illustration book. Or sell them as plans!

We must be related.

I'm guessing by your living room floor that you're single.

You got it partly right Yes, I am single and yes I do wash my car parts in the dish washer but the floor in the photo is the upholsterers, not mine

Here is couple of parts I today got back from the upholsterer. Sorry about the image quality, difficult to photo black objects and get some details visible.

Here is some samples:

Drivers seat:

Seatbacks are leather covered too:

Rear window frames too:

And header panel + glove cmpt lid:

I should receive rest of the parts next week, maybe...

To be continued once again.

Oh I am just so jelouse. I hate the way my interior plastic pieces look. The only way I could do this would be to do it myself, and I doubt I could do it even half as good. I might try on the smaller stuff though.

Today I picked up passengers seat, steering wheel, shifter **** and bag.

Notice how the steering wheel is much thicker than the original

I cannot wait until I see the big bits like the dash, door panels, sills etc.

now that looks like some quality work. LOVE the stiching. I'm not sure if I want to know what that's costing you though...great idea with doing the rear hatch cover in leather...bye bye plastic.

Thanks all.

Old seat foam is under there but it was repadded so it is now firmer than new.

For what will be covered, look back a few replys to Centralcoasters post. There you see almost all my red parts on the floor. All those and couple of other parts will have leather on them exept sills and the panels on top of your knees (lower dash carpeted parts). They will be done in Alcantara.

This means that most interior plastic panels will be upholstered in leather (not the grey parts on gear tunnel, light switch panel and drivers door handle panel and air vents). All seams that are necessary will have that grey stiching. This also includes emergency brake handle and cover, gear tunnel sides, door opening trim, targa loop, dash end pieces, hatch surrounding panels etc. not so obvious parts.

First let me say that your entire project is really quite impressive congradulations to you!!!!

I'm also very impressed that you are recovering all of the "vinal" pieces like the dash and so forth with leather. When you replied back that the leather work was costing $6,000 I was thinking wow what is being covered but now I see that it is a ton of parts. I've been thinking of having my 95 interior redone in a similar fashion and am most anxious to see how your parts come out.

Best of luck with the rest of the project. We all enjoy seeing your progress

Thanks again for everybody on your compliments.

Here is a breakdown on expenses this far. The leatherwork is surprisingly affordable compared to usual reproduction seatcovers and interior panel prices:

Audio system: $1300
Leather upholstery: $2500!
Mass Back Carpet kit: $500 (+ shipping + customs + taxes = $950)
Sound insulations (Dynamat, bitume, MAD kit): $515
Seat belts: $260 (+shipping+customs+taxes = $470)
Minor interior bits like shift button, horn buttons etc. maybe $100
Interior paint, speaker fabrics, MDF etc. related: about $250
Screws, glues etc. maybe $100
Work: $0
Total this far: $6185

Additionally I estimate maybe $300 for gas driving around getting parts, paints, to and from the car etc.

Obviously I have needed some new tools also but I don't count those as they are the kind I can use later in home improvement like belt sander and router etc.

This is all I can remember out of my head now, there probably is some more. And the fact is that there will be more expenses before the interior done.

Not cheap in total but considering the kicks I will get from my dream interior for the years to come I think it is worth it. Also, Vettes are not cheap here and this project will further increase my cars value.
