So I've posted a couple of times about how excited I am about getting my first Vette. Interior needs some work, paint is great from 10 feet, motor and trans seem strong at 150k. I've been cleaning and tinkering on small things for about a week and have had the chance now and again to take it for a drive. Here is the awesome part:
Every time I drive it, I mean every time, at least one person makes it a point to stop, roll down their window or (if its parked) walk over to tell me how beautiful she is! Is this normal? I think its awesome, especially considering that I feel that she is far from perfect.
Ahhhh, how that just adds fuel to the obsession!!!!!

Have a happy and safe fourth!!!!!
Same thing happens to me daily. People ask what year it is, the motor size etc. People just appreciate a nice car. You better get used to it .
We have a shopping center nearby that has a drive way down through the middle of the shops that are on both sides of the drive that enters into parking garages on both sides. It's kind of neat because it's like a two story mall, but with a road running through the middel of it. (great for slow cruise by). There are few parking spaces along the road in front of the stores on both sides. I have this one spot I like to park all the time; it is in front of Swenson's Ice Cream and across from a large Barnes & Nobel book store. I love both stores!!
Anyway - many people congregate in front of the Swenson's ice cream during the summer months and I like to sit back on one of the sidewalk benches and listen to the comments, (both good and bad) from people walking by. It is hard for people to walk by a White on Red Vette, with the top off, and not say anything. One night a couple was strolling past when I had the top off, the car was just detailed and looked awesome. The woman said to her husband "Look at that white Corvette, Isn't it beautiful?" the husband replied "It's ok". I saw them walk up the street and get into a Chrysler Caravan!!
I truly don't think the average person knows how much of a bargan these cars are. If it's a non Vette person and I let them know you can pick up a great coupe for 10k or less and a nice vert for under 15k they just simply don't believe it.
These cars still have a great look after 20 years and if taken care of, some still look as if they were new.
Enjoy your new car and yes a little attention that comes with it.

Most are stunned when you tell them how little they're going for these days. And it's made more than a few think "Well hell, maybe..."
I went to get my windows tinted saturday and while I was in there no less than 5 people had commented on my car. Gotta love yellow. 1 being a honda owner that asked how much I bought it for. When I told him what I paid he said I was crazy and you couldn't buy 1 for that. I just bought it about 3 weeks ago and still had some paperwork in the center console. He said he'll be looking soon.
