Do a search on "tach filter" and you should get some good ideas. There is a/should be a filter that goes from the "TACH" terminal on the distributor to the instrument panel. Make sure it is connected and grounded properly. It looks like a condensor with a long white lead.

While your on the subject ..... How accurate is the tach in the 1990 with a six speed. When I run the rpms up they spike beyond the numbers. Whats up with that?
