Default shift **** question

Has anybody out there tried to mount a c5 oem style shift **** in their c4? I really like the look of the c5 ****. A carbon fiber version would look great in my black interior...or if the silver version could be painted to match the exterior of my coupe...hmmm.
Anybody have any info on adapting it?

You don't mention whether your vette is mnual or automatic...

- the thread patterns are the same for the manual on a C-4 or C-5
9/16 x 18 (metric)

Check with EPCO (search the net) - they have a number of different adaptors available my friend.

sorry....it's a 6spd. The only thing that might make me hesitate is if it ends up being too tall once its mounted. Guess I could always re-sell it if it doesn't look right.

You could also buy a tap, run the threads down further and cut off the excess. This has been done to create shorter-throw shifters!

Not really. Shortening the shift lever, and de-creasing the shift "throws" are 2 different things.

For shortening the "throws" of a shifter refer to this from mid - america.

The manual transmission shift ***** have many kits allowing changes of the **** between metric and standard threading. You have to look for the kits.

my Hurst places the pivot point higher making the lower portion "throw shorter" due to it being longer.

Short throw shifters are a waste, they don't help you shift any quicker, but that's a whole 'nother story.

The ones I've seen on ebay don't show any shift pattern. Maybe I'm mistaken. Just went back to ebay and can't find them. They look similar to ones listed for the c6...leather on the lower half, and metallic on the upper part...only the c6 ones have a shift pattern, and it's angled toward the driver. The c5 ones aren't angled, have no shift pattern (that I've seen) and have the c5 logo. Where did they go, ebay! There were several on there last night!

If a tee handle is of interest, a vendor offers them for the 6 speed on the ZR1 Registry web site.
