Yea, the eyelets are torn. The carpet and the insulation are both bowed. I am just wondering if there is a way to salvage the carpet and put it back together?
Has anyone used plastic washers, glue, etc. I am looking for ideas and what folks have done in the past.
I think I have four eyelets back there, I just pushed down harder on the clips and that worked. But if you want to get crazy, buy one of those tarp repair kits that gives you new eyelets and there you go.

Depending on how damaged your eyelets are, just repair them. Glue large metal washers to the back of the carpet. You could even put those stupid expansion washers back on (I wouldn't).
If you haven't done so yet, remove your rear trim panel. You'll see studs the carpet hangs on. That's what you pulled it off of. (You gorilla)!
When you fix the carpet and replace the rear trim, the repair should be hidden. If your tear is really bad, you might try seam tape or some heat activated mending tape. Then sit down and listen to "Try a little tenderness" before your next project.
If it's REALLY bad, you might want to look for another piece of carpet from a salvage yard.
Thanks for the reply. I have plenty of washers!
The ware and tear has nothing to to with strength. It has to do with the age of the carpet and ignorance (mine). I was looking in the wrong place for the fuel pump.
Have you seen a section on this forum that deals with interior reconstruction?
