"91" fog light bulb upgrade.
I've been reading a couple of recent threads on "Fog Light bulb upgrades" and thought I'd share my experience on this.
I have a "91" Vette and I first read the C4 tech tip on this subject but, found a couple of differences in the procedure.
On the earlier year Vettes (84-90), the tech tip says to replace the stock bulb with an #885 but, I found that the #885 bulb's shape is straight and my "91's" stock #896 bulb has a 90 degree bend.
I went to Autozone and found that the Sylvania #886 bulb is identical to my stock GE #896 but, is a 50 watt bulb. I bought two #886's and installed them at home in 10 minutes without jacking the Vette off the ground.
Also, the tech tip says to replace the stock 10 amp tail lamp fuse with a 15 amp fuse but, I noticed that the stock fuse rating for my "91's" tail lamp fuse is already 15 amps.
After the installation, I turned on the headlights, foglights and switched the high beams on and off and noticed no dimming or grounding problems.
In the end , if you have a "90" or earlier year Vette follow the C4 tech tip for the fog light bulb upgrade. If you have a "91" or later, just replace the stock #896 bulb with the #886 50 watt bulb and that's it!
Hope this helps.

I must say that I DID notice a difference in the 50 watt fog lights. Not akin to headlights mine you, but a difference. Try just turning on the fogs w/o the headlights and see what you think.
Good Post and SAVE THE WAVE!

smelling burnt
I am taking mine out also, I smelled something burnt and pulled one of the bulbs out and it had got so hot it was turning colors and smelled very burnt. my headlights do not glow dim so the ground should be fine.
the extra light is not worth the risk of fire I installed silverstars and that helped tremendously
