Footwell
Nice to be here. I'm tallish, old, and arthritic. Pictures of the footwells seems to show a narrowing toward the petals. Is this a comfort problem? Does the high sills - low seat position cause hardship with entry/exit?
Thanks.
Thanks.

No problem. I'm 55, arthritic, bad knee, 6' 4", size 13 (shoe) and don't have much of a problem with my '94. I think it feels great getting settled in. I usually keep my left leg bent while I'm driving anyway.

Entry/exit with a C4 definitely is a learned skill. The driver's side offers very little clearance between the bottom of the dashboard and the top of the sill. I have no trouble, but I'm accustomed to it, and not too arthritic yet. The '94-'96 C4s are a bit easier to get in/out of because the seats were redesigned with significantly smaller side bolsters. This makes for easier ingress/egress, and tends to promote longer bolster life, as the wear and tear on them is usually reduced, depending upon how carefully you get in and out.
I am quite comfortable while driving my C4. The footwell is not wide, but there is a dead pedal to the left of the clutch, and I don't find the foot space on the driver's side to be confining (the passenger's side is a different story, so make sure your girl has small feet ).
It's been said that you don't climb into a C4 -- rather, you strap it on.
Be well,
SJW

Wow.
There are a bunch of BIG dudes drivin' Vettes out there!!
I'm Just 5'10" and 165.
No problem for me but as was said before it is an aquired skill getting in and out of a C4. After a few times you'll have it mastered.
A guy once told me, (he was quite large) "man the Vettes a bit*h gettin' in and out of but I sure look cool drivin' it"
Good Luck and have a great holiday.

Narrowing at the footwell isn't a problem as my butt is wider than my feet. A friend once described getting in/out of a vette as being like getting in/out of an RV bathtub, impossible until you learn the right tricks, then easy as pie. I have taken some 12 hr days in the vette and came out lot less sore than in any of my many other vehicles.

When driving the 84 for long distances I find my right knee is killing me. My wife also complains. wish the big hump for the trans was much more narrow.

Wow, you are younger than my youngest son. Wait until --nevermind, you have heard it before. Seriously, I have arthritis and bad hips/knees and yet the vette is most comfortable car I have ever had. Maybe being a later C4 with twin power sports seats makes the difference. Whatever, I find it very comfortable and easy in and out.

6'2" 200# size 11 shoes, the narrowing of the footwell isn't too bad. And like it has been said before, getting in and out is a learned/acquired thing. This is the way I find works for me (bad knee). Sit down on the sill and slip my butt on into the seat, then pick up both feet and swing them in. It's not too bad.

re:Footwells
Im 6ft 3 and 260 size 13/14. The footwell Its very narrow I cant imagine having to shift so my suggestion if your a big guy is only consider an AT. I too am with the rest of the crowd it is what it is. I have to slink down and my right knee is right next to the dash. My left foot rides the hump but I move my knee back and forth and its all right. Exiting seems to be easier with the window down. I agree you basically wear a C4. Still love the car although, The 94 model on up has a different seating arrangement which has to be more comfortable due to the lower bolsters. But I havent sit in one of those so im only guessing there! Goldcylon

Well, I am 6'4" and 310. My car is a six speed, and I would never own a AT Corvette , just like I would not own a Caddy w/ a 4 speed transmisson. No flames please, just my HO.
I do not have any real issues getting in and out of my coupe, like everyone said, it just takes some practice

In a copla days I'll be taking a 7-8hr drive in my '88 and it is indeed no problem. On such a trip I set cruize when traffic permits; then can move one leg or the other around for comfort.
Entry & exit is easy too; it's well "programmed" by now. Of course when I occasionally slide into the passenger seat I have to "relearn" that side...
